Hard to believe its been 162 years since a hurricane made landfall in California. You would think with all the coastline California has they would have hurricanes more often.
 
The water is too cold

San Diego doesn't even get above the 60s way too cold the Gulf by comparison is near 90
Yep! Although I think the biggest reason is where the hurricanes form and track . They hardly ever track towards California, they always have a west nw track . A hurricane would have to have a very weird track to even get near the California coast, go north then hook a hard right.

SouthernWx needs a name change to Southern&MidwestWx. Time to expand our horizons, folks. We aren’t just a regional BB any more! When will be adding the NE? I just hope we don’t get too big for our britches like American did with this growth!
