Yeah I know my complaining is nothing compared to others with multiple snowless years but the last time I saw 3+ inches to cover the grass was January 2018. Nearly 3 years ago.

AND that’s including one winter here in the mountains at 2k elevation in a decent NW flow area too.

pretty crazy. Last winter was one of the mildest winters in the old timers memories around here.
January 2018 for me also. Got 2 storms of 3 plus inches about 6 days apart. Good thing for us is we rarely go 3 years without a decent snow and I’ve never gone 4 since living here in 2006.

I hope all my friends down south don’t give up to soon remember guys winter hasn’t even started yet let alone December anything is possible and I’m sure with the way this crazy weather has been something will eventually start brewing for you guys down south winter wise

17-18 was more like winter but it didn't snow here beyond a few flakes while it snowed repeatedly to the south and east lol my only snow that year was when I was in NYC in February and by the next day it had melted...

I think with the exception of February a lot of people forget how great the winter of 2017/2018 was as a whole.

I’ll never forget it. Early Jan winter storm gave SAV area highest liquid equivalent from any winter storm since way back in 1922, ~0.75”! It was wintry from start to finish with 0.50” ZR and 2” of sleet/snow, combined, and the bulk in the shade stayed on the ground for an amazing 4 days afterward due to the coldest week in decades! The ZR was the heaviest since 1922 though neither the sleet nor the snow was. It was a cold one but not nearly as cold as the bitter cold of the 12/1989 historic coastal blizzard-like snowstorm.

This is your year. I feel it. 6"+ for the Northern Dallas burbs.

Man if only you knew how the weather is up here I mean these winds and cold temperatures are hell sometimes I ask myself should I have stayed in Alabama lol

haha I think about moving north a lot but I go back and forth so much, I really do not like extreme cold and also I don't want to live somewhere where snow is routine....

the winds are no joke in the plains in general

Nashville sounds perfect for you. Plus you would be closer to family in AL :) Or you could always go to Amarillo or Lubbock.

If it wasn’t for my great job I probably would still be in Alabama now but the job and folks up here has been great

I could have told you about the winds and I've never been to Montana. I'm worried you won't make it through the winter.
Hopefully once temperatures goes below 0 I have all the gear I need and equipment I need to be prepared hopefully the winter up here won’t be to severe... if you see me still posting in the thread it means I survived lol

Honestly I really liked the NW Arkansas area when I was up there last winter the original idea I went there kind of got weird(long story) but hey it out the idea out there and the last few days I've been really looking at it again for some reason it's definitely high on my list I definitely don't want a huge metro area imo most of DFW traffic/people wise I could care less about lol

The Panhandle and Oklahoma has been too(for the close not huge north move) and they still are but I'd really like to have a bit more scenery/elevation

NW Arkansas is beautiful and is by far the best place in Arkansas. Tulsa is decent too and is more scenic than most areas of Oklahoma.

It's complicated and I feel bad sometimes because my parents(and sometimes my sister and her little kids) keep wanting to come out here but it's such a long drive(or expensive plane tickets when they all want to) and there's really nothing here anyway so yeah I really don't want to move further away at least right now

Actually because I cancelled one of my winter trips over Covid recently I basically got a free flight to the Panhandle in June and they are gonna drive down and we're gonna meet up at the beach instead a win win lol they get a short drive and I get my main summer goal in one trip lol

Any move is at least a year off but yeah I kind of want to get back to Arkansas at some point next year and look around some more

Kentucky , West Virginia , Tennessee , Virginia , or North Carolina are saying hello! Then again you seem to like the west . I couldn’t live in the interior , too far from the ocean !
