What an odd phrase to mention in a text forecast. “Watching a potential winter storm” yeah no s—- TWC you got over a foot of snow in the forecast I think it’s pretty obvious a winter storm is coming.?

Got about 3 inches of snow up here in Billings Montana but forget about this snow because I want whatever the 18z gfs is putting out back home for the Deep South around 384 hours out hell

Just been lurking like I promised the other day. Some of the synoptic features are not bad, or rather have trended not bad. I would feel better if the parent high was farther south, if dews were lower and if there was snowpack to the north. Anyway, we could squeak out some front end sleet or something, but it doesn't seem like a big deal to me outside of the western piedmont/foothills area.

A tenth of an inch is a glaze and usually doesn't cause problems. And it's pretty to look at. At .25 you start having issues. At .5 it gets really bad.
Just speaking for the fun of it, the 18z GFS at the end of the run didn’t look too far off for the NC crushjob of 1927. @Webberweather53

I absolutely love that pattern, very classic NE trough to phase with the one in the SW. I think that if we could get the +PNA to trend further north and center the heights around BC, we’d really be talking.

Yeah, that monster storm was just pure fantasy. However I think that a NE trough and shortwave in the SW are classic setups for snows. Though that’s just talking verbatim, really just a clown show at this point.
