realistically it will be spring in about 3 months in the south.
Late February/early March still gives us good storms (more than December, actually). Spring will be here soon enough, let's not rush it! :)

But by mid-March it's time to start playing Closing Time over the radio for sure!!

In central and eastern NC at least we do seem to get more snows in February than December.

I got two little girls, one is 3 & the other will be 6 in February, neither has really seen snow in their entire life. My 5 year old asked me the other day why it doesn’t snow here like it does on tv, I just said honey, we live in the hottest place in the Southeast, it doesn’t like to snow here. Then she just started crying (probably cause we had just watched frozen 2) I felt bad.

long story short, I’m gonna have to chase it this year. For myself & my girls. It’s been a long almost 7 years... spontaneous mountain trip will be in the cards this season.

I think with the exception of February a lot of people forget how great the winter of 2017/2018 was as a whole.
Yeah that one was good. We didn't get hardly anything from the December 8 storm here (but much of the Deep South did). After that, we had the nor'easter in early January, which brought snow to some coastal areas that rarely see snow. Then in mid-January, we had the anafront that brought a lot of the board snowfall (including me!). January 2018 was the last time I feel like we've had a month that solidly resembled winter.
