My ideal Christmas would be a big dog that starts snowing lightly on the afternoon of the 24th, picks up on that evening, and accumulates nicely overnight with heavy rates. Then on Christmas Day the ground is covered with lingering flight flurries and highs in the 20s
I think I'd pay large sums of money for that

So I've never done it before, do y'all actually stay up literally all night when snowstorms come in? Like zero sleep?
Yeah, the last time I did that was December 2018. I stayed up all night, believe me, the thrill keeps you awake. Then when it stops, I take a long nap.

I stayed up till 4-4:30 tracking that line on Easter Sunday (well technically Monday by then) but that's all I got

Potentially unpopular opinion, I hope we unleash the arctic and it's so cold on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day that it's uncomfortable to be outside. Give me 33/9 both days, thanks
I want this on Christmas morning.

More or less, usually. If it starts tapering off to light snow towards the end, I might get some shut eye, but otherwise they’re too rare to miss experiencing here.

And you better believe I’m not getting much sleep the night before the storm after staying up for Dr. No’s prognosis, too, LOL.

Lol, I think many on these boards do. I can't make it. I'm good maybe until 1-2 am and if hasn't started, I've got to go to bed.

I'll make exceptions though if it'll help getting a storm. ?

All y’all talking about some crazy cold tweaking hard . You say you want - a zillion but where you gon be when it’s 33/9 or 24/-9? In your house heat blasting to 72 all day praying to god your pipes don’t burst . Just saying , what’s the point , no thrill, nothing to it . Just misery . Cant even go outside to enjoy it , because well it’s not enjoyable .

I ran calls all night dec 2018 snowed 13 inches in a 8 hour time span. Bout got crushed hooking chains up on a car thank god the driver coming down the grade seen my legs hanging out from under the car and was able to hit the ditch instead of the car I was under. Best storm since 09 I'll take either one and call it a winter.

That was really a nerve wracking storm to track. The whole time the rain snow line was modeled within 20 miles of me. Never could feel good about that one until it actually happened.
It rained all damn day that Saturday, I had 8 hours of driver's ed class. Got out, went home, it was still raining at 10pm when I went to bed, woke up to essentially 2.5 inches of slush in my partially flooded backyard and it was raining

Yeah, I got 11 inches from it. It was a bit of an overperformer for me since most mets were calling for 4-8 inches 72 hours out.

Well, the BPI (Board Posting Index) has gone way positive today so that's a good thing. I think the weenieism of the crazy uncle last night stirred the pot and now a potential nontorch December keeps it going up. I wonder what the BPI will be tomorrow. Lol. ↘

Wow! I hope you have better luck this year. It's amazing what that I85 cutoff can do. You can't be more than 10 miles from me as the crown flies if that.

Extreme cold * I don’t see anyone also praying for extreme heat !
Yeah but heat doesn't give us our biggest fix of all....snow!!! And I km now someone's going to say cold & dry but us die hards will take it all and like it!!!!!!

There's plenty of thrill. I love going out when it's cold with no wind. Everything sounds and smells completely different. I'd much rather go outside when it's 17 than 97

Who runs their heat on 72 anyway?? Between 67-70 here depending on how I feel that day

You're too young to remember Feb 2004. Seems as though the east side of Spartanburg had 10 inches. And the further east you went toward CLT was 2 feet!
Yeah I lived in Boone from when I was born in Nov '02 to July '07. Lived in Roebuck from July '07-July '10, moved into my current house. and got 5-6" imby in Feb '11. Went nearly seven years without a snowfall >4" until the Jan '18 mega clipper gave me 4.5"

Damn. Best I've ever done in 10 years imby is a little over 5"
If we can get this -NAO to cooperate and hang around, or at least make several appearances this winter, I don't think the I85 cutoff will be nearly as harsh in GA and the Carolina's. It's been my theory that lack of blocking has been the biggest problem in that triangle from se of Atlanta up to GSP and down to CAE. Maybe I can put that theory to the test this year.

Lack of character folks move on let’s talk weather and those who want a head start on panic buying will have it before the rest. It’s a pandemic and the humane thing to do is to teach preparedness and have a discussion.
God i love these comments
