I did! A 10k a year raise and 3 extra weeks off a year got me out of CAE! And getting snow holed like that in the winter of 17-18 helped my decision. I'm actually in a good spot to get a good snow each year here. Not sure what the hell has happened since Dec 2018! Hopefully this year changes that.
You’ve really just come at a bad time. You usually could rely on a 2-4” storm and some flizzards every year, which to me is good

You need to move about 500 miles further north !

Oh yeah. I'm from up this way originally. Moved to CAE for a job in 2013. Its unlikely we go this year snowless here. GSP has not managed two snowless years in a row since the airport started keeping records in the 60s. I remember @Ollie Williams saying Greensboro did it 3 years in a row in the 90s. So if they can I know we can but I hope that doesn't happen anytime soon.

not too happy about my last comment being destroyed someone needs to spread Christmas cheer for Ashe county and southern Virginia lots of good people there that matter.

Actually @Dewpoint Dan when I retire I may try Michigan out. I'll buy me a snow blower to keep the driveway clean, stock up on food and just watch it snow all winter. And summers are actually enjoyable up there!
I hear when you move to Michigan they give you ballots already filled out as a welcome gift. Sorry that was hanging fruit.

Great story and don't apologize, I mean have you read the rest of this forum?
LOL! I know right! I'm glad you like my story. I know I don't contribute much because my 4 year old keeps me plenty busy and taking care of my grandma too, but I love you all. It's like we're all family, maybe a little dysfunctional at times, but that makes it fun too. So, I love catching up when I can.

I can tell you my story. I was a freshman in high school in 93. I remember Glenn Burns talking about it. My cousin was staying with me and my grandma. That week was crazy. We had thunderstorms that you get in the Summer the beginning of the week (Monday) or a few days prior. By Friday, my cousin and I were watching Glenn Burns talking about the snow and we both said that we going to school next Monday. We just knew nothing was going to happen. So, after about 1am, we went to sleep. I woke up maybe ar 5am and looked out of my window and didn't see anything. So, I knew it was a fluke. I went back to sleep and a few hours later, I woke up and saw the snow (it was daylight) and said Holy poop! (sorry moderators). My cousin and I ate breakfast and headed out the side door. It was bitterly cold for Atlanta standards. The wind was blowing pretty good and you couldn't see 2 feet in front of you. I couldn't see the houses down the street. I had just had my hair done and wasn't about to ruin my hairdo. My hood wasn't what you would wear in snow. Anyway, I'm 5'0 and that snow came up to just above my knees. We walked to the the bus stop (top of the hill) and we couldn't tell if we were in the street or on the hill where we caught the school bus. It was so much snow. We had a ball. Never forget that storm. Sorry for the long post.

What part of Atlanta? We turned the lights on after watching Family Matters that Friday night and already had several inches up in Cherokee county. We stayed all snow with 18”. That’s wild that it took so long to go to snow with you.

Sw Atlanta. I'm near the Cascade area.

Atlanta has not had a single snow more than 4" in Feb since 1928. Out of the top 8 biggest snows in Atlanta, they all occurred in January or March.
Had a few just north of the city but you are right. My biggest have been March and December. January has more volume though.

It's December...what about ground temps? /s
The tremendous rates which will overcome 45F surface temps will also overcome 50F soil temps, so we’re good.

On a serious note, temperatures do seem to be really problematic with this one even if we do get decent precip. I know how that one usually goes.....

TWC, for what little its worth, has the entire lower 48 above normal temp wise with the exception of the lower SE (where its just normal). It also has most of the lower 48 below normal precip. Didn't realize how much of the continent was in a drought. This forecast was for the month of December.

So funny how Sunday nights low for my area went from 29 to 37 in the matter of 2 days. All because rain is coming in lmao.

I don't dislike this at all and although on the tail end but it's still snowing...... let's do this!

I was up your way again day before yesterday. Probably again next weekend too. What’s a good place to take my wife for a nice sit down meal in the Roanoke Valley? Oh yeah, I had to go back because my wife wanted a 1970’s Pyrex mixing bowl she originally passed on last weekend. We bought a set of three of them last weekend and needed the fourth. We paid $37.50 for the three bowls and then in another booth we saw the fourth (different seller). That seller wanted $25 for the one bowl and she passed on it saying it was too expensive for one bowl. Got riding home later that night and she went online to see how much she could get the one she needed for. She then saw that the four bowl sets of the Pyrex Snowflake Cinderella mixing bowls were going for $350-$500 even in rough shape. Needless to say I was ordered to get that damn bowl.

EDIT: She collects Pyrex bowls from the 1960’s and 70’s that have special designs on them. We have a China cabinet for the sole purpose of displaying them. They go for anywhere from $200 a set up to $750 a set depending on age, design, and condition. We have a small fortune in our dining room.
