Last time was Fab Feb 2014, I believe? And Jammin’ January 2014 a couple weeks prior we had a cold snow, too.
I think that's right. We really haven't had many major IP/ZR scenarios in this area since I moved here. There was one in either Jan/Feb 2010 that got most of E NC with a few inches of solid IP, but I don't remember specifics or the temps offhand.

The March 2014 storm was really close for zr only here. I think Chapel Hill/Durham was about 10 miles away from a significant ice storm. Hillsborough to Winston special.

Yeah, I was in the Triad in March 2014 and it was a major IP/ZR storm. We got a couple inches of ZR and probably like 0.25-0.5” of ZR. Lost power for a number of days, too. Not far north of the Triad it was mostly snow, though, but no flakes where I was. Also had good IP storms in mid February 2015 and January 2016.

Sigh, why can't we just get one of the endless cold masses from the plains to actually come east, give us some actual cold, and give the board a snow? So tired of seeing all the freaking cold west of the mountains over and over and over again, and never coming to the SE. Call it a pattern, call it climo, whatever you want, but it STINKS and it gets old. If LA, MS, AL can get cold we should too! It apparently doesn't matter what combination of global factors we have going for us, even a -NAO, it simply won't get cold around here. Not talking about this borderline stuff we've had all year, I'm talking true cold like the whole rest of the country has seen over and over again. East of the apps STINKS!

Ok, I feel a little better... maybe...

The warm Euro is approaching zero here

I feel like I'm in the twilight zone ?

Sweet! This snow falls with temps in the teens...I always dreamed about having this big a winter storm with temps that cold. In Raleigh we are in the 35F range with wet mangled flakes.

Im not sure what to expect here east of I-95 in the coastal plains but I hope its not the lights out crap coming to someone in the more favored CAD areas.

Rich get richer. I've already started looking at houses west and north getting myself back into the jackpot zones, SE of Raleigh is nearly equal to CAE
There’s one for sale right down the street! You’d like it up here! Just far enough N and W! ?

Won't matter...wherever we move it's not going to snow. We could move to Boston and it wouldn't snow for a decade.

I went to App State for 2 years before transferring to State and didn't see a single snowflake while in college there. It only snowed while I was on winter/spring break.

I was on spring break for this one so missed it. Missed it by a day...I was packing up my car to head back when school told us to stay home.

This happened the year after I transferred to State. Now I was at State so I got the 4-6" of snow/sleet.

You are probably right. I can't remember the last time I was in the jackpot zone of a significant system. Maybe 09? I don't believe in chasing snow I think it's silly.

I was at NC State in 96 for that one. It was awesome with 5 inches of snow with a solid layer of freezing rain on top. You couldn't break through it. It was the best sledding I've ever done. We all cut up our trash cans and made sleds out of them. Went to the hill in the quad area and was able to go from one end to the other on a sheet of ice! Loved it!

Yep, I was there too...it was a great event.

I will never know. Raleigh used to avg around 3 double digit seasons per decade and we haven't had one in 19 years.
Only time I’ve seen snow in the teens or colder, was January 88! 45 years on earth, living in CLT and GSP , only once!!!! Until I moved up here! Just had light snow shower and 10 degrees! ⛄

Probably Obama’s First Inauguration Day 2009. I was jelly of Raleigh that day.

EDIT: But I think you lived in Brier Creek back then, so maybe not...
