My gut feeling is that worst-case scenario this won't be a ridge over the SE. However, I do think that the worst-case would be a ridge over East Canada to suppress cold air.I have been trained by the past 2 years to think this will be a ridge by day 6. What are the chances it’s not?
It very well may happen. But my money is it being in and out in 2 days then back above average.I have been trained by the past 2 years to think this will be a ridge by day 6. What are the chances it’s not?
Not everyone. A few think we'll have a great winter!Boy it about to hoppin' up in here once this modeled cold shot implodes like we all know it will.
Him and Brick looks alike
GFS shows a cold snap with lows in the 20s early next week, then afterward is "what cold air?"
Lol nope ??Anyone staying up for the 0z runs?
Dont forget the Christmas snow of 2010 !I have always been pessimistic when it comes to snow chances before Christmas. 2018 was the first time in over 15 years it snowed more than an inch before Christmas here in Raleigh. The December 2017 storm was a bust here, and I recall there was a December 2008 or 2009 storm that brought Louisiana snow but nothing here. The Deep South and of course the NC mountains have seemingly had more early December snowfalls than here.
We've had much better luck in January and February historically, so I naturally am more optimistic then. Though January has been a dumpster fire the last two years and February 2017-19 all sucked
If it was a true threat within 3-5 days I would but right know it’s just a wish and dream but I’ll keep following it.Anyone staying up for the 0z runs?
That was after Christmas, I was specifically talking about before Christmas, especially early December. Early December did have the ice storm in 2002 though and the 2000 coastal which shafted RDU. Early December is kind of like June/July in the Atlantic hurricane season when it comes to winter storms: you can occasionally get something very significant but you usually don't.Dont forget the Christmas snow of 2010 !
I think in general the further east you are the harder it is to get early season snows. Seems like western areas fare better early in the season. That was after Christmas, I was specifically talking about before Christmas, especially early December.
