Misc 2019 Banter & Friendly Conservation

Yeah I don't know about that. I definitely buy into climate change but it hasn't been ridiculous imo, or maybe I need to dive deeper into the past and look at the daily average, and not just highs/lows. I think climate change is real but I also think weather goes somewhat in cycles.

(as a side note, although I didn't read those conversations, my dad got someone #madonline on twitter about his opinions on climate change and got blocked over it)

Off of this topic, with the rain coming next week, it's going to make me ready to go down to Florida.

Oye:

This is a bad, very bad take. They might go extinct eventually, but in 6 months to a year? Talk about a flaming hot take.

One more edit: Although this is a very sad look at polar bears. People do need to pick up their trash.

Fv3 coming in with a widespread hit for NC. It showing accumulations of snow but most likely it’s an ice storm.. I would watch the threat only because models are trending a little colder with the other two systems CAD and that’s on all models... once again would be another big bust for the Fv3 if it didn’t happen due to how close we are to the event. But once again i will throw all my eggs in its basket .... only cause I’m desperate at this point... it’s gotta be right eventually right?

I really want it to be right showing more wintry precip, but at the same time I really want it to fail so our government can see how much of a failure the model really is

Alright, TT gotta do something about this. 0 frozen precip for SC or GA outside of mtns

Got down to 26 degrees this morning!! Winning, except for all the new growth and flowers pushed out by the week of 70s! Weather sucks

This tells the tale. How the model registers snow south of VA outside of the mountains is beyond me. The 0c 850mb line is at the N.C./VA border.

The issue is with the algorithm TT uses and not the Fv3 itself. Other sites like Pivotal don't have this issue.

You know what's really a kicker? The Weather Channel can't say the words Chattanooga, Tn.. Apparently, Chattanooga hasn't paid the Weather enough money to be seen on the TWC's maps. I was watching the temps on break and TWC was talking about all the rain ahead and all they could say was "we're expected Severe Flooding in places like Atlanta and Nashville". Heck, Chattanooga going to get more rain than both of those areas combined. The lady was struggling to point out the locations because their map had a bulleye on Chattanooga Tn. I laughed my butt off at them...

I don’t think it’s the website problem itself. The FV3 counts all frozen precipitation as snow. It’s up to websites to adjust that output post-processing with an additional algorithm to realistic outcomes if they’d like. You can see on the NOAA site on the snow depth change that the fake snow is a problem with the FV3 and not TT. TT adds **includes sleet** at the top of the snowfall image to keep people in check.
