From looks of things early on the FV3 is going to be doubling down not backing down.... this goin be fun

The whambulance thread is now merged into here to have one "Banter" thread.

FV3 is not at all believable but it’s been such a boring winter the model discrepancy inside 6 days is extremely entertaining. What’s the JMA showing..?

Not only did the FV3 not back down but it doubled down with a much stronger wedge this run. It's either going to be an epic fail for the model or it is picking up on something the other models aren't yet.

You have been all over this one. Hope the FV3 is on to something and the other models come around like with the December storm.

Hoping we can break the pattern of going a few years in between major winter storms. December 2017 was great but we have been paying the price so far this winter. If anything I think our chances for major ice are better than anything else if we are to score this winter.

Hopefully it will be correct, the reason it's so much colder than other models is it builds the HP in and holds it there whereas the GFS and Euro slide it OTS. I'd like to see other models come on board today and tomorrow with the idea, there have been some shifts in the GFS this direction which is a good sign. Let's see what the Euro does.

It feels like storms come in bunches more than anything if it's going to be a good winter, but maybe I'm thinking about the backyard in NW GA. After they were shutout for a while, they had 3 warning criteria winter storms in two winters in 09/10-10/11, plus they had an inch or two of snow with 2/12/10 (the storm that was bigger south). Then another dry period, then 3 winter storms again in 13/14-14/15. Then they also just barely had a decent snow with December 2017 last winter, I'm guessing based off of word, although others up there have disagreed with me they had 2-3" with that.

I can relate it some with home to a lesser extent.

It's amazing how unlikable unc players, fans, students really are

Every team has fans who are jerks. I'm actually one of the good ones. :)

Anyone ever heard of the game dartball? It combines darts with the rules and game play of baseball. You throw from the line and hit singles, doubles, strikes, balls, out, home run, etc. I play in a church league, and have been playing for almost 30 years now.

Lol I just now noticed the wambulance thread is gone, rip to the just friendly conversations, say hello to the dank memes and constant complaining
It will be ok. I think we can still do memes and have fun in here. This thread wasn’t even being used much when the wamablance thread was open. . As long as their is no personal attacks in here it should be ok.

Does NWS forecaster's discussion even take FV3 into account? I don't think I've ever seen them mention it. Do they not use it because its not operational yet?

I can't lie, even though there's little support, my jimmies are starting to get rustled at the FV3 trending back to doom scenarios further south ice wise.

Also:

How on gods green earth is the fv3 spitting out 7 inches of snow over Chattanooga? There is no way this set up would have anything more than flurries at the end of the storm for anyone in the Tennessee valley. What is the reason for this amount of snow here and elsewhere in TN?

How in the world is the FV3 snow map anywhere close to reality even on pivotal? If this is a strong wedge we are usually looking at sleet and zr mix or more sleet. I'm assuming the pivotal is accounting for sleet as well.

These comments indicate why that unless you scored, most think the FV3 is **** and has a lot of work to be done to be made operational.

(Reality: People might need to stick with H5 H5 H5. The surface maps are pretty, but we need to use even basic knowledge on H5 instead of muh pretty winter storm surface maps)

I tried to go on the NWS climate prediction website and it wouldn't let me, said something about this website may try to steal my personal info. ? wtf???

I'm hoping the FV3 is right. I just hope it's more sleet than zr.
