Misc 2019 Banter & Friendly Conservation

Lol S.C. gets straight up blanked on the icon, that’s tufff, seems like the mountains effect y’all more

Sign me up for a major winter storm affecting Atlanta on February 3rd. I love seeing slow moving dumpster fires and would love to see what would happen if you combined the Super Bowl and a major winter storm in a southern city.

there was a mess here in Dallas leading up to the 2011 Super Bowl apparently, the whole week was first icy then snowy

in fact only after this did Dallas buy snow plows lol

I wasn't here back then but this is one of the biggest wintry weeks ever on record here

I don't feel like dealing with a melt down. Here's hoping the 00z Euro doesn't come in anything like the dry FV3 to the West of the Carolinas.

Uh oh. Euro is alrdy better for the Weekend.. moisture once again.. much closer vs 12z.

not to the arctic front part yet.

Only 31 more shifts and we score Sunday night! It’s setting the table for the 30th storm! We get a rainy frontal passage! Havnt seen any of those this winter! WINTERWINNING

The Super Bowl Sunday storm is sooooo close to amazing!! Better hope one of these duds hit between now and then, cause it’s back to big cutters after that! Probably just a reload for the awesome last week of Feb and mucked up March

Time has flew by this winter. Such an encouragement to have a 4 inch snowfall before Christmas. At the time, I thought it was very encouraging. We've had our share of cold since then, unfortunately no waves to follow behind those fronts, no ULL's to swing through, no clippers diving down with enhanced moisture, just frontal rains followed by clearing.

Surely there is a song for this....Thanks Hall & Oates "So close, yet so far away"

Weather friends, its time to come together and mourn our sad occasion in Mother Nature. Marriages don't always last, bonds aren't always strong, and at times, do fall apart.

Friends, I have to share this, its just been announced to me that Cold Air and Moisture are filing for separation. I sure hope they can get counseling and work through this, and find some reconciliation before year's end.

Should have been more specific, I'm mainly talking about our public transportation. (MARTA) They already admitted themselves they are understaffed from bus drivers to train operators to their own police for the volume of tourists that will be here that weekend. Plus there was the rumor about a strike...

That's fine with me. lol.
Yeah, after I spent two hours stuck on a Marta train at 1am after the ‘18 national championship game, I shudder to think what the Super Bowl experience will be like. I’ll never do Marta again for a big event.

Does Glenn Burns suck? It seems like nobody likes him.

He doesn’t hype winter cold fronts. He is right most of the time but when he is wrong he is REALLY wrong.

Gotcha. Thanks. People are always bashing him, so I was just wondering.

We have a guy around here, Greg Fishel, who has been here forever. He used to be really good and his forecasts used to be much more substantive, especially with big events or big event potential. Now, it's pretty much just straight up ensemble forecasting. I guess that's the safe thing to do and gives you a fallback for something to blame if things turn out wrong. You can fall back on probabilities or bad models or whatever. Either way, it allows you to escape actually incorporating your own forecasting skills into the outlook, which I guess is what TV wants. It's pretty sad and disappointing, actually.

Agree 100%. I don’t watch local mets anymore

Can someone give me a rough estimate of when the GEFS runs usually start running? I want to try and keep a better on them. TIA
