I’ve seen 40s for high in summer but limited to foothills. Just need precip and no sun for a few days. and wind. Won’t happen near Charlotte or be widespread however.
Currently in the 40s and 50s here locked in a wedge while north-east Tennessee is approaching 80.
40s? Even highs in the low 70s are rare in the middle of summer at RDU.
I think they’re on the cruise ship too!

Wish we could have another summer like 2009. It might not ever happen again, unfortunately
2003 was one of the coolest summers I remember. I think Atlanta hit 90 a handful of times. I dont think Atlanta ever got above 92 that summer.
