Wow, I never had heard of this dangerous bird (cossawary) that killed someone near Gainesville, FL: :(

It can't fly, but it has four inch long dagger like claws and can run 31 mph! I wouldn't wantr to be anywhere near this bird.
@pcbjr did you hear about this?
Front page headline news in the Gainesville Sun ... but then, that's the Sun ... o_O ... as you may recall ...

Not to diminish the damage, death and destruction that took place on Saturday/Sunday, but IMO, it was definitely more bark than bite in compared to the tornado outbreak in March.

The March event was tied to a lower amplitude (open/fast moving) shortwave with much more marginal instability (only 1000 to 1500 J/KG). Thus, you didn't really expect too much in terms of significant weather from it and mother nature surprised big time beyond expectations

Given the parameters, Saturday/Sunday could have been much worse had the forcing been more sporadic combined with less speed shear and thus the storms more discrete.

Anyone who didnt think much of the March setup beforehand doesnt know much about southern tornado outbreaks. The only real surprise was it didnt trend northwest and become even more scary. A little farther NW and a little stronger EML, and it would have rivaled 4/15/11.

In case anyone hasn't notice, GSW blew about a 50 point lead in the 4th quarter last night. Maybe slightly exaggerated, but damn!

i Heard that the US military was ordered to steer clear of this bird in Vietnam back when the war was progressing, becuase these birds claws can easily tear into flesh and gash/open a artery

About 20 years ago my buddy's father bought some ostriches. One day I get to his apartment and him and his roommate are laid out no shirts just boxers. Both are bruised and bloodied head to toe.

As they tried to separate the Male from the females they tried shooting him with a BB gun. Tbe bird lost it and trampled both of them. They were lucky to survive.

Yeah, there no joke, a ostrich can kill a lion with a kick

WOW! Tampa Bay Lightning go 62-16 regular season. (Tied for most regular season wins in NHL history) Bounced by Columbus Blue Jackets 4 games to 0 !! @Webberweather53
Webb, did you play organized hockey?

Yeah I played for about 16 years and went to nationals a few times with the East Coast Eagles and Greensboro Stars and was offered to play in Juniors and the USHL but decided to embark on my passion for meteorology instead. That was a very tough life decision several years back but I think I made the right choice.

Just unreal, Tampa has obviously one of the best regular seasons in NHL history, they are the first presidents trophy winner to get swept in the first round and not only that but it's also the Columbus Blue Jackets first playoff series win ever. Takes underdog story to a new level lol

VERY impressive! Not to sound selfish, but I’m glad you chose meteorology!! :)

AA gambled on a 36 year old staying healthy and a guy that had shoulder issues all of last season getting over it. He struck out and now has a much much worse pen than early last year when I remember guys like Socolovich allowing Max Scherzer to eventually fly around and score a game winning run. Considering that I'm not counting on either guy, you basically have to acquire four relievers and that's impossible in season.

Here we go again, another bad threat for the SE. Looks very scary the next few days.

I hate April. The only good that comes from this month is if the Heels are playing for the national championship. It is such a horrible month for destruction and violence for some reason.
