That's awesome but we won't be there too long, maybe an overnight stay and that's it..... and not just because I think it's dangerous Lol. Mostly because I don't have that much time (or money) and we like road trips actually, stopping at little markets, side shops, off the beaten path places to eat, etc... we love it.

Omg, I was blown away with St. Louis. I visited there this past year and absolutely fell in love with the area. Of course, I have lived in a small town all of my life so it doesnt take much to blow me away ;)
 
LOL since we're talking about long range OP models, now that the FV3 finished on tropicaltidbits, with how that run looks, shift the low about 50-75 miles south, and give me my foot or so of snow. As it flips me to heavy snow for a bit in that run (where I initially said if it played out looking like that, I'd drive to Lafayette).

That is the type of scenario that can unfold when you have this kind of upper air look. Look at the orientation of the PV. Look at the western ridge. Look at the -NAO block. See what I mean?

But, forgot he tweeted this in late Dec.

 
And now the Euro is showing another ice storm for NC on the 20th. The hits keep coming. Nonstop action from the 20th to the 31st.

It's almost like the -NAO is somehow conducive to southeastern snowstorms!

It would be great to see that type of upper air look to actually make it into the short range. I don't know why it is that models show patterns like this in the LR but wash them out or change them altogether as time moves forward, especially when it comes to a -NAO.
 
I personally like -EPO/+TNH patterns the most because that’s the best way to get a board-wide southern slider and the really extreme cold outbreaks with cross polar flow into North America but I can live with a -NAO as long as it doesn’t continuously hand off all the good snow to the mid Atlantic

Neither do I brother, not fully. I actually just uttered something very similar here. Hopefully in a week we will be staring down something similar to that.
