Misc 2019 Banter & Friendly Conservation

Are you referring to February 2010? I had a similar story. This is probably the only storm that made me happy and pissed me off at the same time. l remember the initial snowband moved in as early as 7am, but the air was so dry nothing started falling here until around 1pm. I was a junior in high school and the snow started at the end of my lunch period going into my last class of the day. I think my last class was an english class so I couldn't concentrate, all I could do is keep looking out the window at the snow falling and thinking how I wish I was anywhere other than sitting at this desk in a classroom. I was lowkey annoyed they didn't do an early dismissal. lol

They did an early dismissal here, and it wasn't really needed (maybe it was now that I'm thinking about it with bus routes and when the storm started as some schools release at 4). So 14 year old me was sitting at home on my netbook and getting antsy because of getting screwed in that ULL the year before. But then the storm started for me, and it was all worth the time spent tracking and gambling on starting a thread so early. I think that was one of the rare GFS coups, while the wild swings were there, it had the idea of there being a storm waaayyy out there.

Maybe I'm remembering wrong, but there have also been storms in recent years where it was pretty much guaranteed that a widespread winter storm was going to happen a couple days in advance and it was just a matter of the details. I think January 2011 was like that, and I remember very well that I was sounding the alarm bells a few days before the 2/12/14 storm to my parents on an ice storm.

Thanks. Just didn’t know if something having to do with data injest was an issue from run to run. Sounds like that isn’t a problem (i.e. the model function is as good (or bad) as it ever was).

Sure! There's also planned upgrades to the RAP, HRRR, NAM, & replacement of the CFSv2 with a subseasonal to seasonal (S2S) version of the fv3 model, the shutdown is likely going to cause a chain reaction that pushes back the development of all of these unfortunately and not just the official implementation of the fv3 model that was slated for January 1

The Euro had the 2/12/14 storm like 5 days in advance and never wavered.

Man I can’t lie, this board delivers night in and night out. It’s like a soap opera about a bunch of snow goobers who think they live at the North Pole and never get snow and act surprised every time it doesn’t happen. So they fight and nit pick about meaningless things because there are never any snow storms to track

I'm to the point where I've just accepted my eternal reality of cold rain occasionally mixed with sleet and a light glaze on top for dessert if I'm lucky. Life is so much better now!

Didn't y'all used to not agree with each other a while back ago? I noticed this winter season you guys had some good convos and I was like well that's nice, good to see that

Yeah we did, I didn't want to deal with crap like this ever again and got to the point in my life after dealing with several traumatic events within the past several months where I really don't care anymore about little stuff on a weather forum, it makes my life much easier to brush it off & keep going. I'm really a pretty easy guy to get along with in-person tbh lol, 1300m just found a way to trigger each me at the flick of a switch ad nauseam. I'm pretty sure 1300 is a cool dude outside of this forum in-person from the conversations I've had with him, for some people it's just hard to get a decent read of their personality thru a computer screen. I understand the myriad of sentiments but personally think the mods did what they could in this situation given the circumstances, and what triggered this quarrel should have been taken with appreciably less gusto and left alone.

Where the H&$$ do I go to cash out on this...
