Misc 2019 Banter & Friendly Conservation

I have thought about this too. But you have posters who are every bit as capable as the meteorologists of posting about patterns/model analysis etc. and there are only a few meteorologists here. It wouldn't be the same without some of them. Now maybe a thread dedicated to model analysis where you MUST discuss/analyze model runs and no other posts are allowed could work.
You just essentially described what the pattern and Storm threads should be about. The parameter is different but the outcome would be the same. Discuss/analyze xyz. Conversation outside of that gets moved to banter. It still gets to eventually be subjective. There’s always gray area that pops in.

As a tv Met your damned if you do and damned if you don’t . I wouldn’t want to be in his shoes. He is looking at the same models we can see and they can go 180 very fast. He is good at seeing CAD.

My only problem with Glenn Burns is his careful, conservative rationale with wintry weather doesn't apply with severe weather. I'm ok with the conservative approach for wintry weather possibilities because it's usually the smarter way to go about it here, however, I wish he could do the same with severe weather. If I could count the number of times he's rung every bell and whistle in sight on a potential severe weather outbreak 5+ days out that completely busted because of more times than not a cold wedge developed and made the atmosphere too stable to support severe weather I wouldn't have to work another day in my life again. It's a weird double standard. Yes, we live in the South, a region of the country that's more prone to thunderstorms/tornadoes than snow/sleet/freezing rain year round, but that doesn't make them a 100% guarantee to materialize just because they show up on model guidance.

Really think the 0z models will be good #positivity

Wrong Thread. Positivity is a banable offense in

I’ve had plenty of stuff removed by @Rain Cold but I don’t, for lack of a better word, cry about it. In fact it’s quite the opposite. He’s one of the more likeable people on this board. It’s not easy being a mod and remaining likeable at the same time. The sensitivity is a little much and a lot of it filters back to ego I believe. Keep doing you, RC

If those are the rules of those threads then I am fine with that and could adhere to them and I doubt I would ever break them. That would be ideal to me lol. But they certainly aren't being operated that way now, which is leading to concerns like @Brick Tamland has brought up, and I am also seeing where he is coming from. I mean how does a post agreeing about the FV3 performance this winter get deleted but posts about Glen Burns and Columbia scoring remain in the storm discussion thread just in the last two pages? C'mon now - that ain't consistent. Take 'em all down or leave 'em all and stop acting like Brick is out in left field, he's actually not. Got to stick up for my Wake Forest brother a little haha.

It’s also dynamic with mods getting stricter when it gets busy.

And trying to keep up... I'm getting too old for this, bouncing around 4,5 or 6 threads and trying to follow model output Lol.

So your playing favorites with the mods? I'm hurt ?

I just moved those post about Burns.... we've been so busy defending our jobs they got missed.

Haha I was being sarcastic, next run of the 0z models will have the low pressure down in Puerto Rico

It really isn't that big of a deal. Is this a popularity contest? No, this is a community of weather enthusiasts to the more knowledgeable to meteorologists in a forum on the internet. Some really remember easternuswx and like the way that went better, but for me and probably several others here, I bet we liked the old TW more, where it was laid back and we all could chat. I kinda think the mods here are trying to get a blend of that, and I think that would be perfect. As from what I vaguely remember from eastern, even the adult version of me would probably be hanging back a bit more and just reading. When I was younger no way. I couldn't have posted there.

Nice try though? Not sure what you are implying
I'm not sure what you were implying.

P.S. You say you're a "metwannabe" well I can tell you as a real meteorologist getting unfairly scrutinized for your job when you are doing what you feel is 100% the right thing is par for the course. I have personally been subject to attacks on my character and job performance and was told I (my team) could not defend ourselves. I am more than familiar with where you're coming from and I am not trying to offend the moderators, but at the same time, there's some things I feel are worth pointing out. But I'm only one member, and one probably half the board would just as soon do without so take it with a grain of salt if you must.

All this moderation and thread talk is going to force us never be lenient for anyone, for any reason, in the main threads. Even during down time.

If we take that route, which we don't want to, we are going to end up with more complaints from the less knoledgeable members. In turn, people will feel like they walk on eggshells as a whole.

I really don't think we have a problem at all or anything needs to be changed at all. There's only a hand full of the same posters than seem to complain about post getting moved and what not. The moderation here is very chill, but if we have a storm coming than obviously it is gonna have to ramp up. My only complaint is I do enjoy the gifs Brick puts in the main thread sometimes when things are looking good lol.
