Never got my hopes up for this one but it’s going to be really painful here in Columbia to watch another storm go by where everyone gets snow except us. Hopefully we’ll get more set-ups like this in January when we have more cold air to work with

cant believe I'm relying on the 84 hour NAM but here we are lol... over 3 years since theres been more than a dusting here
 
I haven't had issues in participating, although it has been slow at times, but for some reason, this site has been logging me off at times for a couple weeks for no reason, without me even being idle.

Its final exam season and this storm is not helping lol. Last year on December 8th I was taking a final when it just began to snow in Atlanta. I got out of class and everything was absolutely covered! I was so distracted during the exam, focus at an all time low!!
 
I mean I’m happy for NC and all but it sucks to sit this one out in Atlanta, especially after being spoiled by last year. I know there will be more chances but man oh man just go 50 miles northeast of me and they are getting walloped. Oh and I HATE cold rain. I’d rather be torching and sunny.

I remember when I was in college at Emory in the late 90’s we had several absolutely crippling ice storms. Several drunken falls outside the fraternity house!

So to share a story of a snowstorm back in my childhood, I remember living in an apartment complex at the time with my mother and sister and I can't remember the exact year or how old I was but I know it was around 10 plus years ago. There was a pretty good snow/sleet storm and I went outside to play with the other kids in my neighborhood, when we had started a snowball fight. Though the snow felt and looked like bricks of ice, one of the kids broke one of these bricks over my head and it hurt like hell.

If CLT does get the supposed snow/sleet/frz combo then I feel sorry for any kids who get the business end of one of those snow bricks.
 
The only sucky part of having a big winter storm like this early in the season is that most likely every storm the rest of winter will pale in comparison !
 
I wish N AL could get in on this one. Haven't had a greater than 1" snow since 2015 here, going on nearly four years. I know it can happen, the month here with the greatest snow accumulation is December of 1963 at 21", which is more than double the greatest January total on record.
 
It's fun reading all the discussion, and also reading all the intervening 15 posts between each bit of deliberative info ... :cool:
