Worst winter I remember in a long time. I see a trend here. I have said this same thing every year the past 4 years. Sure we got a dusting that was gone as soon as it ended. But there has literally been nothing to even watch this winter. That is even worse than the few we had the last 4 years. I need to move North or just quit worrying about it. Not sure why I keep checking here daily hoping to see something.

Lets be real here. CAE is not a great place for Winter weather. I know it seemed like we used to get it so much more, but in reality big storms just aren't all that common around our parts as a whole.

I understand that, but until recent years one good sleet fest or 2-3 inch snow a year was pretty likely. Even if it was gone the next day. And there was always something to watch in Jan-Feb even if nothing came of it. Now we dont even have anything to watch. That is all.

The pacific hates us.

2000-2005 was good for us and 2010-2014 was pretty good. I hardly remember any decent snow events in the 90s, I think we only got an inch for the 93 storm.

I think my problem is that I get on this board too much. One minute everybody is acting like we are headed for a great pattern, the next minute is gloom and doom. Maybe if we had a rule of not talking about anything past 5 days it wouldn't be that way.

With the exception of that brief cool spell and winter event in early Jan, this winter is like a carbon copy of the 11-12 winter. This winter may end up even warmer !

if we didn't talk about anything post day 5 we wouldn't have anything to talk about

Not exactly. There was wintry weather in Georgia this year. In 2011-12, I remember none at all.

Anyone who is looking at the upcoming threat should realize that temps lately have been too warm in areas, and for the 4th day now thee forecast has busted. Take everything with a molecule, not grain, of salt. Nothing is set in stone and cold may come.

I said that with the exception of the winter event in early Jan.

I'm getting so desperate this winter that I'm getting excited for the recent gfs and euro runs that show me getting a few flurries around midnight tonight. Lol

I honestly didn't know it was possible to get as little snow as I have gotten this season. I understand that I don't live up north but every winter season for the last 10 years during even the worst winters I've gotten multiple snows of at least a half inch to an inch and multiple dustings. Now something could change but it's not looking good. So if I don't get anything else besides wet Fluries I will have had one dusting and a few flurries this entire winter. Also to add insult to injury I'm going to have to cut my grass for the first time ever in February.

I refuse to cut the grass in February. I have a rule that the earliest I will cut the grass is March 1st. In the 11-12 winter I nearly broke my rule but I decided to wait until the first few days of March. Generally though, I have a tradition of beginning grass cutting season on the first day of spring.

I usually can go until late march and have even gone as late as early April without cutting the grass. But this year I started getting weeds that grew in January. And the rain and warm temps this week and they are growing even more to the point I'm definitely going to need to cut the grass before march.

I like to wait til April. It doesn't always work out(2012) but it seems like once you start mowing the grass grows even faster. Of course, I live in the middle of nowhere so I can get away with a shaggy yard much longer. :)

As far as actual winter storms go, this winter sucks. I remember last winter folks were talking about we should be entering a period of active winters based on the pattern of how our winters usually go, but it doesn't look like that is the case. We can't even depend on patterns and indices that gave us lots of winter storms in the past. It just doesn't work that way anymore.
