...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 6 AM MONDAY TO 6 AM EST
TUESDAY...

* WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 4 to 6
inches. Winds gusting as high as 60 mph.

* WHERE...Avery, Yancey and Mitchell Counties.

* WHEN...From 6 AM Monday to 6 AM EST Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous
conditions could impact the morning or evening commute. Strong
winds could cause tree damage. The cold wind chills as low as
5 below zero could result in hypothermia if precautions are
not taken.

...HIGH WIND WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM EST THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...A short period of wind gusts in excess of 50 mph.

* WHERE...The NC Sandhills, southern Coastal Plain, and portions
of the southern Piedmont.

* WHEN...Until 7 PM EST this evening.

* IMPACTS...Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines.
Scattered to numerous power outages are expected.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...These strong, locally damaging wind gusts
will occur at the back edge of an area of rain moving northeast
at 30 mph across the area.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

People should avoid being outside in forested areas and around
trees and branches. If possible, remain in the lower levels of
your home during the windstorm, and avoid windows. Use caution if
you must drive.
 
Just got back home from North Myrtle Beach. Constant moderate rain wind driven with patio and deck objects being shuffled around. No flooding there but a few miles north at Cherry Grove they are being flooded. :(
 
Just had some thunder and lightning in Pitt County, if it were 'officially' winter that would mean snow in 7-10 days right??
