Have 1.5" of snow now in Franklin county AL, still coming down fast, all snow. Medium wet flakes that make a noise as they hit the ground.
This is just east of downtown Birmingham 
The waiting while virga still rages overhead is testing my patience. I've been nursing this storm since it was an Alaskan bubble ridge on the 384-hour GFS. C'mon, man 33/21 and upstream radar is gorgeous.

People just South of Atlanta are about to flip to snow, and a lot of models park that heavy band over you for a few hours this morning. Could rack up 4-6 inches real quick if things play out nicely.

Absolutely hammering snow in Ashland. Quickly approaching an inch on the ground of snow/sleet. Donkey feathers falling from the sky

The south metro might get smoked here with this initial band. I would be ecstatic for them. Been over a decade since they got anything worthwhile.
In Pelham near your location and while I’m no snow depth expert, I’d give us a couple of inches at the moment. Pleasantly surprised by this one so far!

If South of Atlanta doesn't stay all snow... they're going to wetbulb down to 27'ish in the next few hours... ice storm could be epic, there... like really bad.

TWC future radar has rain moving into my area at 9AM. Of course it also didn’t have snow breaking farther south either. Think we switch over to rain pretty quick or hold onto the snow for a while today?
It looks like the sleet stopped and I switched back to very light flurries.

Was doing comparison checks against the radar. FV3 looks best right now. Has bumped up qpf overall in the last couple of runs.

I woke up at 5am and say "snowing in commerce" and got the coffee brewing. Haha, it's been too long!

Driveway and sidewalk are not treacherous. About 1/4" of sleet.

3-4 inches of snow, then an inch of sleet, then 1-2 inches of snow on the back end. and a trace a freezing drizzle.

There’s really no reason to be looking at models anymore, they were trash anyways for places like Birmingham and Dallas. Just check the obs and radar.
