Here we go. The first sleet pellets have begun here 40 miles east of Atlanta. 33/21 should change over to snow before sunrise. Perfect.

I really am sad for everyone that wanted to see snow this winter in GA. I know we are not getting any younger and this may be the last winter chance for some. It really is a huge disappointment. I hope those that want to see snow one last time can find a way to travel to WV or Ohio to see it.

I disagree. There is not enough time as the upper level bowling ball out west is well within the 120 hour mark. This one is cooked. That feature is killing all snow chances in Birmingham to Atlanta to Raleigh. I can't believe all of the posters were pulling for this feature to be present and strong for their "blockbuster" snow storm. In this pattern, you want over-running, weak systems. Best chance to see snow. Now everyone gets a cold rain, maybe, could be a mild rain with highs in the upper 50's by the time it's done cooking.

Agreed. I don't see any path to snow for the Atlanta area. All of the models are too warm at multiple levels of the atmosphere for the 1/10 storm. This one is all rain for us. I can't foresee any trends that would be strong enough to make a difference on temps. Most likely, the 850's will warm even more as we get closer and inch the snow line even further north. TN, NC mountains and maybe some northern NC areas look really good!

Not to hurt anyone’s feelings, but I think you can stick a fork in central AL and GA’s chances at snow and possibly on north a little more. You need a miracle to overcome 3-4C temps at 850 and 950mb with a 20-30kt southerly LLJ with evaporative cooling alone. Not saying it can’t or won’t happen, but that is ugly.

Edit: In fact you may pull that warmth to that surface with heavy precip. Hahaha.

A few little flurries and sleet pellets reached the surface when I moved our cars away from the trees in our driveway about 30 minutes ago. Still need to saturate the column, but love what I see to my west and southwest. Bring it on! 33/17 at the WUnderground station a short distance from here.

Now mostly light snow. I've seen pretty much all precip types in 15 minutes except hail, and I'm willing to leave that for a spring storm.
