Love this, still think the GFS is trash.
Man that area of the country is beautiful to me. Got stationed in 29 Palms and drove 40 across the country. NM, Flagstaff AZ both really nice! Seeing snow in Joshua Tree and 29 was an experience!

15 yr old me would have been loving this look on the 5 day business planner.....all that blue and pink deep in TX was what I looked for in the 5 day planner.

Gonna see the GOM low stall and bomb out eventually as the trough moves east.. (at least per the looks of the H5 maps)
Haven't seen a look this pretty at 174hr in so long, usually is 274 and goes away after a run. Gfs has shown this for 3 days straight now

This run dumps a lot of energy into Mexico, and yet just enough slowly crawls away from there for there to be some light snow in the SE instead of nothing...
We’re a long way from this getting figured out with so many moving pieces- but hard to hate the look. This was a good run even if the surface reflection isn’t crazy impressive this run
This is going to be a big snowstorm for parts of the southeast 100%
A lil too beefy too soon for me but I’ll just ride the wave. Seeing that every other model is still suppressed I'm ok with it right now
If the 12z Euro H5 is better, buckle up.

I wonder what the UKMET shows.
One thing that keeps standing out to me with these model runs is that the r/s line seems to be at 546 thickness line rather then typically being 540, I wonder if that's a product of the airmass in conjunction with perfect time of the year climo wise.
CMC is a gulf coast special
Gfs and cmc in lockstep at 156 with snow in Texas and the gulf low. Huge. And like Webb said, we saw a nw trend on the 1/6 storm. This is as ideal as it gets a week out

Aren’t we entering that period of time though where we say models “lose” our storm? Only to bring it back in the 3-5 day range? I think the next 2 days of model runs will prove if that is true this time.. quite possibly.. we have enough favorable ingredients that we keep it.. and each run is just making adjusts to what will actually happen.. still a long way to go to get my hopes up.. WoW… have you hired that therapist yet? And no judgement on mental issues here.. our family got plenty to go around!

12Z GFS is so close to MBY. So far, Icon has the snow just to my south, GFS has it just to my north, and CMC shows a light snow over my location. At this range, I like where things stand. It's best to be in the middle of the model solutions. If it ends up a near miss, I can just chase.
