Wow so this would be almost all snow in North GA. Most of the ice looks like it's South of a line from Rome to gainesville.
 
Wow, showing a big stretch of 6 to 8 inches for NC. The trend has been positive today for sure.
 
I am crying that was so beautiful. HP essentially from coast to coast at 132, with a strong enough wedge to bring ice to south metro ATL. Would love to see the 850s a little colder though
 
Notice the Arctic high on the 18Z GFS is much further NE than the track of the 12Z Euro's high thanks to a more shallow 500 mb trough. This is a much more common track of the high for a major SE winter storm than what the 12Z Euro showed with the high too far SW to allow cold air to get established in advance. The 18Z GFS allowed cold air to get better established in the SE US BEFORE the moisture came in. That's what RaleighWx's climo tracks for big NC snowstorms show. It is best that the high be to the north or NE rather than to the W. Hopefully, the later Euro runs will shift this way, which looks doable.
