Not sure if anyone mentioned it but the Huntsville radar is down. That is why there is a gap. It's snowing where the gap is right now according to Fox 5.

Can anyone explain why there has been a dry slot up I59 all day? Band #4 just went through, dried up, and redeveloped...its insane.

WRAL in Raleigh shows there futurecast model and it has it snowing from 6:00AM until 5:00PM.
Seems like a long event. RAH stated it would be a quick hitter on there latest update, 6 hour window.

Last several GFS runs and some high res NWP have jacked up the QPF and slowed down our wave more like the super amped ICON and RGEM showed a few days ago, which gives everyone more snow in NC but shifts the bullseye further west from the US-1 corridor to Greensboro. I won't complain either way still gives several inches to RDU but could allow areas towards Greensboro to get closer to 10" ish (give or take a few inches)
Mmm look at WV imagery at the surface and mid levels. SW flow, for, the, win!

The transition from 40 and rain to 32 and snow took about three miles going up I-75. The ground is white already in Emerson.

The RAP had some really funky long range runs during the last storm but the slower arrival of precip is consistent with the wave amplifying more.

Would that increase of radar activity over northern LA and central and west central Miss be the impulse that could give us a little boost this evening?
HRRR says the party hasn't even started for the birmingham area. I mean it has snow for 8 hours straight. Hopefully we get started soon

Just seems slower. Most models are now showing the upper low closed off which will slow it down. May mean the heavier band now shifts west.

Hey Eric. What's up with the cutoff of precipitation that the RGEM is showing in Eastern NC? It's the only model showing it right now so I'm not really worried about it yet but it's unsettling to say the least.

Ran/sleet mix here now. It's coming. Should be snowing by 7 here. It is in Cherokee per live broadcast and it looked like a decent rate too. Looks like a nice band headed here.
