Wintry Machine Learning Mauler 1/30-2/1

Absolutely beautiful outside. Looking at radar, and maybe more than 6" on the table. Big big win for what we went through earlier today.
If the eastern bands keep coming at us for multiple hours, 6+ inches is absolutely viable for us. I was bummed earlier at the late onset but oh man we’ve been making up for it the past few hours!

Almost 10:45pm and 4 inches of snow accumulation in SW Wilson county with heavy snow still falling. A pic of some narly drift action.

My father was from Wilson County and I have lots of family that live there. I'm glad you are racking up the snow.

Officially got a dusting. Maybe an hour or so more of this pixie dust until his hell forsaken event is finished.
Sounds painful. You're gonna be the only resident in the entire state with less than a dusting. That's just really bad luck, man.

Thanks, it’s was worth the wait although painful watching radar today. I caught a little heat about the delay of snow from some friends, but you have to trust the process.

Despite it being 16 degrees outside and not above freezing since yesterday afternoon there's heat in the ground. Late January/early February sun makes a difference and I'm seeing the snow I shovel leave a little slushy layer.

ILM 18F 0.5 vis and pouring snow. Warmest station in the state is Hatteras at 34. Mt Mitchell at -9 with a wind chill approaching -40. New Bern had a foot an hour and a half ago
It is now 16 here on my side of IML. Very fine compact snow. About an inch and hoping for more

Several gusts beyond 40mph showing up in ENC
Gusts have definitely picked up here in the past 10 minutes. Not quite 40 mph but impressive nevertheless. I don't recall seeing true "blowing snow" before, but that is happening here. Checking that one off my precip type list.

Looking at the big picture radar, it now appears the coastal low is pushing and rotating moisture almost all the way back to the CLT area. I hadn't even bothered to look at that.

The rotation around the meso low in the middle of SC is tapping the gulf stream directly. It's nuts down here.
