Got a coupon for $2 off a sub at Jersey Mike's. I know what I'm having for lunch today.

My wife’s parents moved from Jackson, ms here to Tupelo, ms 4 or 5 years ago and they are talking about how they miss the snow, any reason why they are 150 miles south and at least see one or two snows a year that at least dust the ground. We get nothing at all but ever 5 years or so... better location to moisture? It’s depressing, this one hit me hard because it showed the goods so close to the event, to the extreme and then just died, that hurts, i though 2/3 days out you could be set on a event just may move around some but this gives me no trust in any model even right up to the event.

Who would be interested in doing a southernwx forecast contest. No specifics yet but I wanted to see if the interest was there.

Would love to include a snow hole over Raleigh in my forecast . That's a safe bet when making a forecast .

The interest is no doubt there as was shown a few weeks ago when ARCC brought it up

I am probably in the minority on this board in being done with winter. Ive seen enough cold and snow and im happy. Would love to see everyone get their snow before winter is over and then we can happily move on to spring.

Crazy temp contrast in Missouri. Its 60 in St. Louis and close to 10 in the extreme NW corner of the state.

No fun for Georgia on model runs as of late. Holding out for Fab Feb.

For those of you who have been on the outside looking in this winter, I truly feel your pain and agony. I have been there and i know its a terrible feeling. Im specifically talking about the 2014-15 winter. It seemed like everyone in the south except for me got snow that winter and what made it worse was that it was so cold that Feb and we kept getting teased. It was pure torture.

Looks like this is our year, seeing more cold coming and nothing to show, just stings more that 4 or 5 times this year models showed huge sorm for us, last one up to two days away and just gone, that just rubs big ole grains of salt in the womb, then to add to the hurt this storm is just to the north, December storm just to the south. And last couple of years nothing, both years same thing happened storm over us for days on model then closer it got it went away or moved north. Why can the freaking gulf coast get a storm on the models and it’s set in stone but here we get nothing, I still would like to do the research on how South Mississippi gets more snow than us but averages almost 9-10 degrees warmer on average. Sorry it happened to you, it does hurt.

I'm telling you, something about that week after a big warm-up in winter and winter storms here. I remember in Jan 2000 we had some snow the first part of the month, then a big warm up, and then more snow before the Crusher. If it gets close to 70, watch out a week later.

I mean, it's one thing if you are constantly getting under your average of 6 inches of snow for winter the past few years.

I can’t tell you how many times that even 24-48 hours out that all models had me getting 4 or more inches of snow only to end in Fluries or nothing at all. It’s the south and the further south you are the more likely the heartbreak. The only storm that the models were basically right from start to finish for my area was the January 2016 storm that brought me a foot. The euro constantly showed 6-10 inches run after run from the minute it picked up on the storm and it was pretty accurate for middle Tennessee. But off to the west in places like Memphis the models busted big time. Basically the models will always perform well for some places and always miss in others during most storms.

It's weird, but interesting that this run of the HRRRX goes out to 36 hours. I wonder if the new HRRR will be double the hours as well.
The HRRR still shows 18 hours and it is updating now. It is interesting about the new 36 hours on the HRRRX, looking forward to it's LR forecasting:p

I'm developing my own model. The FHRR (False Hope Rapid Radar)

It will feature temperatures skewed by -5 to -10 and increase precipitation by 50% while also increasing the precip shield by 75%

It's similar to the HRRR

Yeah that blown coverage was the refs fault ..... and the defensive collapse was the refs fault as well

I didn't say the refs were entirely to blame. But after that blocked punt where Georgia was wrongly flagged for being offsides, the game changed after that. Momentum started swinging the other way. That was huge.
