Wintry January 3rd-6th, 2018 Winter Storm The ARCC/Xtreme Weather Special

There is a chance that this could work out very well for someone in the Southeast.

Before getting too excited you should think about what would happen based on the orientation of the lead wave. What would stop the secondary wave from being drug along and sheared out?

I believe the concept is that 2nd round of energy would basically assist in phasing the storm which is basically one thing that could save this for parts of the SE

If the lead wave keeps slowing down we might well have something with the eastern SE. Might not be done if the Euro holds.

Hmmm, despite the lead wave trending slower this actually might've been another SE tick.

If this actually works out this wouldn't be a storm in which it's birth was in the GOM, just fwiw.

ETA: Actually ends up shifting closer to the NC coast.

The last 3 GFS runs have been nothing but good news w/ the handling of the northern stream wave near the eastern seaboard, just not sure if we can adjust this enough to crank out a big storm here in central NC, most likely no for now anyways.

There's been a trend of the big bowling ball upper low off California shifting west a little the last 3 runs as well.. it's taking baby steps
