My first unknown precip of the season currently
And absolutely nothing on radar
Got mammatus looking clouds out there

Really wonder what’s driving this 
Looks like precip in the upper layer of a disturbance west meeting with the southerly disturbance has helped in moistening some layers in which precip can make it to the ground. If you play around with the radars and their tilts you can see this pretty well.. you can see with this highest tilt radar beam the circle is closing in meaning that layer is doing it’s damn best to moisten up. The higher reflectivities are helping as well.. need another hour or two of this though

I was officially not skumped for the winter. Off an on flurries and sleet for most of the day.
Only bad thing is that band to the north helping to reinforce things and moisten it up is fleeing quickly.. it’s going to be now or never for that band to make it to you in time it has a shot tho hope you get some flakes!
Friend in Gastonia said she’s subbing for a kindergarten class and it’s flurrying a good bit and the kids were going crazy about it lol I remember those days

Definitely looks like the general dividing line between sleet/rain & sleet/snow mix is near the I-85 corridor (go figure)
Got some Pixie dust falling here now, university area Charlotte

Congrats on the Carolina posters getting some wintry precipitation today that’s a win for the southeast regardless
Nothing here but snow pings all around me smh
I had to concentrate my Vision for the flakes here haha, but they were falling
Nothing near Uptown Charlotte, but it sure feels like it could squeeze out a few flakes.

Nothing reaching the ground here SE of Charlotte. Cloud deck lowered a bit when the heavier radar returns were over me but not a drop, pellet, or flake on the surface.
Sleeting again
Wow… over on my end of Union County, we’re actually having a decent sleet shower right now with a few flakes mixed in
Haven’t seen anything near uptown, but maybe I’m just timing my office walks wrong

Here's a slightly better version of the generalized precip type map I posted earlier, based on ground truth reports + mesoanalysis. Not everyone of course has seen anything yet, esp in NC.

Fwiw, I see the 12z ECMWF has ticked north again & even has a little burst of wet snow/sleet tomorrow morning down around Fayetteville, NC.

If we would have had a GOA trough, Rockies ridge, deeper vortex around the 50/50 region, and a stronger southern stream wave, we would have been cooking, the -NAO is actually doing its job in this image, the Atlantic side is a dark check
