Pattern March Thread

Meanwhile, Roxboro bottomed out in the low 20s. They always win.

Looks like GSO only made it down to 32. RDU 3 degrees colder than GSO isn’t something you see too often.
No happens a lot of the time April - November for monthly coldest temps . They have higher coldest avg lows than we do . Also dropping to low 20s in late March when things are growing is not a “ win”.

We’re still almost a month out from last year’s last freeze (April 21st). Average last freeze is around the end of March/beginning of April for most of us.

Yes yes indeed but there is a huge difference from a freeze around 32 and a night in the low 20s . Also last year was the latest in 2 decades . Not exactly the norm. You are correct about the average yes .

Yet another beautiful day here. DFW is currently at 86*F.

Got one more days in the 80s, then it cools back down *ONLY* into the 70s.

You reset to January ? Everything dead again?
Most of it probably will be after this morning. Usually a semi-late frost/freeze doesn't do much damage but 24 yesterday and 23.5 this morning, is a little more unusual so yeah probably

Glad you appreciated it . We are like 2 days away from the start of 6 months of heat and humidity .

Yeah I saw the temp map on the news this morning and was kind of surprised at the temp gradient. Were there some clouds down that way or the wind stay up?
Looks like both and interesting enough my wind was E most of the night now it's SE. Warm comin

Looks like you were down below freezing for a good six hours to so, too, pretty intense.

Low of 30 for RDU, 33 for GSO. Perhaps the final freeze of the season for RDU.

Despite Mostly Cloudy skies, did manage to achieve a high of 80*F today at DFW. Also, had a 51 MPH non-thunderstorm wind gust (Wind Advisiry remains in effect).

Avoided a 4th morning of freezing temps but just barely, 33.6 this morning. Those clouds thinned out here and temp dropped from 40 at 4:30 to that 33.6 by 6:30, with some scattered frost around.
Don’t you just love it ? The clouds piss off at night and give you a cold night then return by day to keep your high low . What a crock of ----.

An intra-hour high of 70°F today saved DFW from breaking its current 70°F+ streak the past 7 days. Should continue at least through Sunday, maybe longer.

Also, March should end up right around normal, with a departure of +0.4°F.

I spent the day yesterday near Emory. The azaleas were in full bloom in some yards and the leaves are already gaining good size on the trees. The UHI is serious in Atlanta. The difference between ITP and my place on leaf out is at least 2 weeks if not more.
