IF KATL doesn't get a freeze one of the next two nights, KSAV will have a shot at an earlier freeze. Ridiculous!

Yes indeed. Honestly DeKalb Peachtree airport would be a better location.

That’s similar to a typical coastal location . Imagine if we had an Atlanta sized city on the coast, place probably wouldn’t freeze till January . Granted LGA is a terrible station and runs 2 degrees warmer than other city stations so I don’t see it’s averages as reflective at all and complete rubbish . Same for Baltimore .

This isn't exactly an exaggeration, the higher our average humidity levels get, along with some slight elevation we have here, our climate is mirroring an oceanic climate every so slightly. The difference between days and nights are creeping under 20 degrees spreads.

It’s an interesting trend, exacerbated by urban sprawl in cities but even when you look at rural areas you can observe the same trend .

Man, I am way ahead of you, lol... I have been bitching about this for fourty years, no kidding, all old Atl Mets always said the same thing, that the airport temp is NOT representative of the actual temp in Atlanta. Yes, Atlanta is a massive heat island, that island has gotten progressively warmer over the last few decades, so it's even worse now than then. I live in the Morningside area just a few miles from the core, I have already had a freeze as have most of the Metro. The temp at KATL is recorded in an area between runways located in the busiest Airport in the USA, and interchangeably, the World.

2. 1148' I actually don't drop as low as some of the other areas around me either, my locale relies heavily on the CAA to get to my coldest temps. The low spots immediately around me are around 1000-1050', and they are always colder on calm nights. On calm cooling nights my temps will drop rapidly until around midnight, go up and down until about 3 hours before sunrise, and then start dropping again.
3. The northwest winds have really picked up now, so its going to be close. ?
