Nashville is forecast to be an incredible 6F warmer than my hometown of Carrollton, GA over the next 2 weeks, clearly showing that latitude does not matter as much in summer as it does in winter.

Yeah right around 9/10 seems to be when we get our first noticeable cool shot. If we progress like we should that might be a couple weeks earlier this year or we at least aren't hammering 90s in late August into early Sept

In Georgia we usually always got our first cool shot in late August. Now the first real big cold front didn't usually come until Mid to late September.

I had killed a few thousand SQft that summer to renovate that area. Had to seed 3 times that fall because of the heat. I was having to water so much to keep the seedlings from baking out that i kept getting fungus. Then that final seed was so late, that I lost half of it to the winter.

Which part? I remember always getting a day or two in late August with highs in the low to mid 80s with lows near 60 and low dewpoints. I remember one year we actually had upper 40s in Mid August in the wake of Hurricane Charley.

We are really starting our seasonal cool down in the second half of August 85/65 or so in the last 10 days of August is fairly normal

I guess it just depends what part of GA you are from. In the western part it seems to cool down earlier than further east.

This is an interesting map. Apparently the further east you go the earlier your warmest day of the year will be. Further west its in early to Mid August. On average, most of NC has already seen their hottest weather of the year.View attachment 86896

Has anyone noticed that there are fewer mosquitoes this year? Or they're biting less or something? I usually get tore up anytime I'm outside, but I have 0 bite this year. My neighbor mentioned the same thing to me the other day.

I've also noticed less fire ants, but that may be because I've done a good job killing a lot of them.

I'd keep an eye on as early as next weekend into the next week as the trough lifts. Going to be an old front, low sfc pressures and maybe a mcv or 2 floating around. Good setup to make a mess with a tropical system that gets pushed west by the building bermuda ridge

Same, I had one mosquito on me this morning but that's it, usually they are swarming. I've still got some fire ants around but there does seem to be fewer mounds this year, now that I think of it within the last couple of weeks I've noticed fewer deer flies as well. Weird considering the high humidity

edit: now, the gnats, that's an entirely different story..... whatever has run off the other stuff don't mess with gnats, they are horrendous.
