Coronavirus (Stay on Topic)

I've yet to get a vaccine because I had COVID that lasted til around the start of Feb and thus I supposedly became immune for an unknown period of time. Based on doctors' advice, I knew not to even consider getting a shot til at least May (90+ day wait). I had originally figured I'd get the first Pfizer shot by around now, but I've yet to get it. I may just wait a bit longer in case something truly negative is discovered about the shots. I figure I have little to lose since I assume I'm still immune and will be for an unknown period longer. What's the hurry?

For those here who got COVID, when did you have it and have you gotten a vaccine yet?
I’m in the same boat as you. Had Covid in February, got regeneron and was eligible to get vaccine end of May. I have held off. Last check showed my antibody level was >20 and test says anything over 1 is positive. My main reason for getting the vaccine would be to hopefully take some of my remaining side effects from my Covid, but I know that’s not guaranteed to happen.

I’m writing this from the ICU family waiting room. My 75 year old dad has been in the hospital for almost a month now. He very suddenly developed autoimmune issues, severe anemia, and what looks a lot like interstitial lung disease. It has been touch and go, a roller coaster of ups and downs. He is doing a bit better physically, but now we are dealing with significant cognitive decline. The man had a lot of other unrelated health issues (heart/cardiovascular mostly) but was doing well until about a week after he got his second Pfizer shot. The docs haven’t said for certain - I don’t think they can - but it does seem to be believed that the vaccine triggered these autoimmune issues (he never had any before) that led to the anemia and severe lung problems.
So - needless to say, since I share the man’s genetics, I have not gotten the vaccine, nor do I intend to. I had Covid around Halloween, and based on what I’ve read I feel confident that I have a natural immunity that is good enough for me!
I think, based on what I have heard here in the hospital, that my dad isn’t the only one who has developed severe issues that “coincidentally” start soon after the vaccine. It’s going to be an interesting 6-12 months regarding these vaccines, I suspect.
I'm so sorry about your dad.

While the initial drop from January through February probably had little to do with the vaccine since it wasn’t widely available yet, I think it’s pretty clear Covid is collapsing in the US now that we are approaching 60% of adults vaccinated. We saw much the same in Israel. The vaccine works well. Are there some rare side effects? Sure, but for all age groups I’m pretty sure the risks of the vaccine are lower than the risks of getting Covid.

I am back to living a normal life now that I’m vaccinated (granted, I wasn’t that “careful” even before since I’ve never really worried much about Covid on a personal level). I’ll do any and everything. People continuing to mask after vaccination in places where it’s not required kind of rub me, though. Do these people not believe the vaccine works?

Fortunately, mask usage is starting to drop off even here in the liberal Mecca of Durham.

I do agree that if you’ve already had Covid I wouldn’t be rushing out to get a shot, though. The evidence suggests that the immune response is usually pretty robust for quite some time.

I'm not gonna lie, it feels pretty good to not wear a mask, even though I had been used to wearing one. After I had messed with one the week before, I thought to myself, if I'm going to do what I was doing (which I was not wearing one over my nose because a mask wasn't required in the store if you were vaccinated), then why am I wearing one at all?

Judicial Watch announced that it obtained 280 pages of documents from the HHS revealing that from 2014 to 2019, $826,277 was given to the Wuhan Institute of Virology for bat coronavirus research by the NIAID, which is headed by Dr. Fauci.
Dude should be Clintoned!
I thought he said he wasn't involved in any of that.

Fauci will be the scapegoat. The same ones who built him up because he conflicted with Trump will be the same ones who will burn him at the stake in the coming years and elections.

Live like a politician, die like a politician.

Wow. Ain’t that some ----. Gezz
Why in the hell are these guys getting test results back 54 holes into a tournament?? Test them before and have results in before the tournament starts. That should be the end of it. Hopefully Rahm can file a lawsuit and get what’s owed to him.

I read where early in the week he was in close contact with someone who had Covid. It said he was tested every day this week and all the tests came back negative until today. He had to be asymptomatic to be able to walk the course and shoot the round he did today. If I were him, I would have gone to be tested again to make sure it wasn't a false positive. The winner's share is about $1.7M and he would have to have had a total meltdown tomorrow to lose that. I felt so bad for him.

I wonder if he had received the vaccine?

They ran the test twice and yes, he is asymptomatic.

I mean...maybe let him play alone...idk. This situation does suck for him.

I've been phasing out the mask all week but I think today is the first day I didn't wear one anywhere and I went inside several restaurants working tonight lol nobody said anything and nobody has asked to see my vaccine card

If theres no sign on the door asking for masks I have dropped mine. I'll respect the business if they are asking for them to be worn though.
