The June Thread 2021

Yeah but as the subtropical ridges start growing and warming and the jet slows and moves north these heat periods will become more dominant
Yeah , I had a hunch June would have rather spring like variability this year. Similar to June last year , July though and august pretty guaranteed summer stability . Hope we make it out with no sub 70 highs this June as it should be on average !

Those estimates are very robust in my area. That quick shower I received didn't cover all the roadway. I'd say not even .01, much less the .1 depicted here. I know the theme is correct because just to my SE I saw several cumulonimbus clouds at various times, so no doubt they got close to 2 inches.

If it can't be cold and snowy, I prefer what we have today. Warm, humid, tropical with cumulonimbus all around.

I wonder if that line down trying to get its act together in GA/TN is what the HRRR is picking up on later on this evening into tonight. If so, I think we definitely are on track to get one or, even two rounds of storms moving in from the west. That moist boundary to the east should be enough to get some decent warnings later on tonight.

Had a lot of rain yesterday evening, and had a good storm roll through around 3:30 this morning. Hearing more thunder now and the sky is dark.

The annual average dewpoint at RDU is 49.4, annual average low is 50.4. Wow! 1-degree difference, indicative of a very good station with minimal uhi impacts.

I swear I end up getting better storms when they are the scattered summer variety than when we are under a supposed severe threat.
