There's a reason why central and eastern NC don't average much snow each winter. It takes a special and unique set of circumstances to pull it off. In Pennsylvania, one can get away with a few missing ingredients, but not in the Tarheel State. We're simply too far south, and too close to the ocean. Once again with tonight's event, no big high to the north, no accessible source of arctic air, blah, blah, blah. If you're lucky, you may see some snow at the very start this evening, and north and west of Raleigh, it might even coat the ground for awhile, but anything more than that is highly unlikely. Even if you have a 1% chance of snow, you're doing better than me-I'm at 0%! LOL

It's interesting the one's who dis us for wanting an ice storm are the same ones who can't wait until the next severe weather outbreak. LOL
We get so many thunderstorm days during the summer I couldn't care less about it.

I just wanna see 50 degrees. Hasn't been 50 since December.
Going to baby step our way back to a slightly below normal temp regime in time for a nice chilly rain.
That has been the theme this year around here for sure. I was sitting outside with a couple friends last weekend saying: "I don't mind the rain, but this cold can go if it won't snow."
I feel like I've said that at least 20 times this season.

This is why we make such a big deal about sun angle in Feb.
Imagine how much stress we could remove if we forced ourselves to only pay attention to 00z and 12z runs of the Euro/GFS and their ensembles versus all the other models and runs for the medium-long range. Seems like my local guys do that.
