2021 Banter Thread

tstrm_climo.png

Post this here to avoid cluttering the Feb thread. Pretty cool to see the wedge footprint that lowers the thunderstorm days

I hate it. @Lickwx feels me here! Places in NM and Arizona have more thunderstorm days than me, in the SE! And over the last decade, they've probably had more Below Normal days than me too!

CAD sucks , see what I mean ? It kills actual good weather in exchange for low energy weather . The different mainly comes from spring thunderstorms . We average more summer storms than a lot of the places west of the mountains . Summer convective storms are more epic than frontal spring ones that we can get screwed out of thanks to CAD.

Real Question: When did we fall in love with the ICON? I feel like recently I have heard so much more about it, and people passionately following its runs, when I don't remember much of an announcement regarding a sudden spike in accuracy?

@Loganelliott99 made a meme out of it.

It’s funny since back before I lived in NC prior to moving to FL in 2016, the ICON was in that category of models along with the ARPEGE, KMA, NAVGEM, JMA, etc. that we really only looked at when the situation was dire and we were desperate for a model to hug. ? Seems like it gets more legit discussion these days, even before it became Logan’s meme. I have no idea how accurate it actually is.

Is probably not that much worse than the rest of the disasters we look at

Come to my gun room where I do gunsmithing, builds, and cleaning. It is a mess from one end to the other. All my labeled bins are open and parts are all over the table. I have an M38 Mosin-Nagant carbine I’m trying to build from scrap M38 and M44 parts. That doesn’t even begin to talk about the mess that is a pair of Japanese Imperial Army Arisaka last ditch rifles I’m working on and trying to get into working condition. Oh yeah... a few AR15’s to build, an AR10, and a cheap Rock Island 1911 that I’m retrofitting with Wilson Combat and Dan Wesson internals.

I bet you like Ian and Forgotten Weapons on utubes. I love Ian.

And Hickock45. Those Russian dudes are kinda crazy as well. Can’t remember the name of their channel.

BTW, be on the lookout later in the year for my own stamped AR10 and AR15 lower receivers. Found a supplier who can stamp and colorize my logo. My Class III license is finally gonna get use!!

BEKKS Tactical Solutions is my business license name in NC. The stamp will say:

BEKKS TACTICAL
ELIZABETH CITY, NC
223 WYLDE (or 556 NATO) or (762 NATO FOR AR10)

I wonder if this is going to go the 1960 route and we keep getting bitter cold and snow chances through much of March?

Are you milling your own Ar's?

Interesting look to the clouds when I left school today, can’t remember the last time I saw it like this

No. At least not yet. I don’t have a CNC and if I was buying 80% and milling them, then sending out for serialization and company name engraving, it would be cost prohibitive. I buy (will be) blanks and sending them off for serialization and company name engraving. I’m looking at a possibly getting a CNC, but that’s down the road and a completely different BATF-E license.

I just paid $45 to fill my gas tank up. I can't remember the last time I paid over $40 to fill it up. Any explanation on this?

Textbook definition of being stuck between a rock (CAD) and a hard place (Arctic Front). Under any normal circumstance either one of these would benefit us greatly and we would be talking about a significant winter weather event, but it's like one is obstructing the other so we lose either way. Incredible(ly) pathetic. ?‍♂️ ? ? ? Also most models are way off on the timing of the temperature drop here, it 58 and most models (global and short range) had us in the 40s to upper 30s range by this time this morning.Screen Shot 2021-02-12 at 7.37.52 AM.png
EDIT: The winds are lightly coming out of the NNW so I suspect the Arctic front has finally pushed to the east of me.
