This MSLPa pattern looks like something straight out of the good ol days in the 60s & 70s, the entire CONUS is covered by a cold high.

Thing to is that there’s blocking above this in Canada, A system like that has true potential to be a crush job due to the fact that it probably wouldn’t move out quick
I remember January 2018. No globals had me with snow, but I ended up getting 2 inches that stuck!

That and there's a very intense subtropical jet to provide plenty of barotropic & baroclinic instability/forcing to make said system particular intense (potentially). I am a little weary of the Euro's slow bias in the SW US so we shall see.

Don't care who gets what, like I use to. If someone in the Carolinas get snow, me & my Jeep will drive. Yes, we've been reduced to that.

EPS verbatim is a little faster than the ECMWF w/ the s/w in the southern stream by day 5

Definitely a trend in the right direction on the 12z EPS
Yeah, I guess C19 is not helping with model skill right now so bigger trends can happen even in the more shorter range, I wanna bet if there was no C19, we’d be much closer to a more likely solution
This eps run will probably be snowier (relatively)
