September Sizzling Summer Segway

I somehow do not believe you what so ever . Statistics to back your claim up ?

No weather stations in Swansboro with that data but I kept up with the weather as a kid and never saw 80 plus dews. I had a Davis weather station and upper 70s was the highest I saw which was very rare.

I mean I have lived in eastern NC all my life ( 48 yrs) and dews in the low 80's just off the water anywhere east of Hwy 17 is not that rare happening at least a few days every summer....even down along the coast.

I honestly don't remember a summer as humid as this one. I don't have annual DP data to back that up, but it has been a really hot, nasty summer. Now that I have a weather station and am looking at the DP daily, I'm seeing readings in the mid-upper 70s for most of August. That seems persistently high to me. Add in the 80s over the last couple of days, and that seems pretty extraordinary. I know dews can get into the 80s this far inland, but it doesn't happen much. Either way, this summer has sucked.

Without checking I’d wager this past July -August are at the very least top 3 most humid ever by dew points . I can pull that data up real quick . 1995 I think stands as the most humid, 2016 came close as well.

With a June-July-August average dewpoint ( avg of min and max dewpoint each day) it 70.123 this summer very narrowly beats out 1995 (70.116) as the most humid summer ever.

July had an avg of 71.64 for dewpoint . Record is 71.89 in 2016 with quite a few years in the 71 range so 2020 wasn’t as standout. Wonder what the average max dew point was . Would have to have been something like 73 this past July , which is typical for somewhere in Florida . I know the average max is 70 for July and avg ( max/min) is like 69.

Average this past August was 71.89 vs normal 68.3. Record is 72.25 in 2003. Again, I’d wager average max dewpoint this August was around 73 .

For us in ATL, this is one of the few summers that I can remember where we basically got thunderstorms all summer long. Usually by late July into august we shift into more of a drier pattern but that has not been the case this year. Kind of follows the theme of how wet it was in the winter/spring.

Last time our max dewpoint was under 70 was July 3! This weekend should deliver that though . Highest dewpoint of the year occurred yesterday at RDU with a value of 78.1.

Same for us up here in the upstate SC. Normally August and - October are pretty dry for us.

Last time I saw a dp higher than that for RDU was during Fran.

We had 80-degree dewpoints in 2016, I'm sure there are countless other times where dewpoint was in this range since Fran. Avg highest dewpoint is around 76-78 anyhow at RDU. Now for September, a dewpoint of 78 is very impressive, I can't recall off the top of my head last time dews were this high in September.

Watching those 10% tornado odds to my north. Bored (no moderator replies)
