Pattern Microwave March

I'll believe it when I see it ... but someone - please join me on bended knees ... (next 3 days) -

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight...
Rain will become widespread across the area this afternoon and
evening. A few embedded thunderstorms will be possible, mainly
along and east of a line from Brunswick, GA to Cross City, FL.

If the low in the Gulf holds together and tracks directly across
northeast Florida late this afternoon and evening, then this would
bring the threat of severe weather into play along and south of
where the warm front sets up across northeast Florida. Gusty winds
and possibly an isolated tornado or waterspout would be the main
threats. Locally heavy rainfall will also be possible.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Tuesday through Sunday...
An unseasonably cold airmass will settle over the region on
Tuesday and Wednesday with widespread freezes expected inland
Wednesday night and possibly again Thursday night with heavy frost
possible for most locations. A hard freeze is still not out of the
question for interior locations Wednesday night.

The 850's being forecasted for midweek appear to be the coldest in any part of March since 2002, which was earlier in the month, and possibly as far back as 1998! So, enjoy this cold as it is quite uncommon this late to say the least. Right here, in Gainesville, FL, and in other SE locations, we will be flirting with the coldest lows so late in the season.

...Strong to Isolated Severe Thunderstorms Possible over North
Central Florida this Evening...
...Near Record Cold Expected Thursday and Friday Mornings...
.CURRENTLY...
The frontal boundary positioned over north central FL
and our coastal waters was creating a huge temperature gradient
over our area, with temperatures rising into the 70s over north
central FL from Ocala to Palatka to just south of St. Augustine.
Meanwhile, significantly colder air resides to the north of this
front, with mid 40s prevailing over inland southeast GA and 50s
elsewhere.
.NEAR TERM (Tonight and Tuesday)...
The strong shortwave diving towards our region will pivot eastward
once it reaches the Interstate 10 corridor early this evening, and
will turn northeastward late tonight as it moves directly over our
area. This weather pattern will accelerate the weak surface low
currently over the north central Gulf eastward through the FL
peninsula this evening. Strengthening mid-level flow (around 50
knots above 550 millibars in northeast and north central FL) may
present a low-end risk of strong thunderstorms over north central
FL near the stalled boundary from this evening through around
midnight. Current LAPS analysis indicates minimal CAPE of 200-400
J/KG in the warm sector over north central FL, and the presence of
the boundary may provide just enough helicity for a marginal
severe weather risk, generally from Ocala to Marineland and points
southward. ... Heavier activity may be capable
of producing small hail, and an isolated tornado cannot be ruled
out near where the stationary front currently exists.
.SHORT TERM (Tuesday night through Thursday)...
After tonight`s system, our focus shifts to the much colder
temperatures expected mid-week. ... High temperatures on Wednesday will likely only reach the mid 50s
north to low 60s south which is about 10 to 15 degrees below
normal for mid-March. Wednesday night/Thursday morning will be our
coldest morning. Records range from 29 to 33, and with forecast low temperatures in the upper 20s north
of I-10, and at or just below freezing south of there, we could
set a few new record lows ...

If the sun spots would just help out we might see some snow in June!.... well also need a volcanic winter, and some years for it to matriculate into the necessary configuration. Need to get those crazy Pac. whale pods to stop swimming counterwise real fast in tight circles...and above all try to get those damn moles away from that heavy metal raggae polka band they started!!

Hahah omgd . I miss his obsession with heat . It fascinating that someone could like heat so much . Of course last year he wished for heat and got a drought thanks to a massive heat ridge so you have to be careful what you wish for .

No real threats stick out in the long range. One thing to watch is the storm track . Looks like it's gonna start shifting a little further south in the coming weeks. Always have to watch systems as we roll into April especially ones that track further south

Lake City has 48 with rain! I suspect some of that is headed your way and that you would likely cool a few more degrees
before your rain ends.
 
What a nasty day! Made it up to 42.8 this afternoon then had drizzle briefly now its 36.7 with drizzle falling again. Blah. lol. 100% humidity now as well.
 
I've been at 45-48 all day long with a steady rain. Today's weather system has been fitting for this terrible winter that we've experienced.
 
I think its silly that FFC doesnt issue freeze warnings for my area until April. Heck, even Cincinnati is under a freeze warning and they are way north of us.
 
My forecasted high of 40 is not happening today. As of 1:13pm I'm still at 31 and really haven't budged much from the 30 degree reading since 10:30 this morning. Also have had a few off and on dandruff size snow flakes!

Looks like (if radar is correct) there may be a little whisp west of you in Arkansas that might make it in your direction ... ;)
