Pattern Microwave March

The most interesting part is the fact you have 3 distinct pieces of energy over MN, NE, and NM. You could really draw up all kinds of different scenarios as far as the interaction and net result. Unfortunately all this means is we have a long way to go. I would favor the flatter Euro solution but something wetter like the GFS isn't impossible

Operative words bolded
(construct the sentence)

Everyone should get on twitter and troll Brad :D after the last winter storm and his comment on "model forecasting" I think its welcome
I mean I get his point but if it's 28 at RDU 18z Sunday with snow falling like the gfs has I doubt we would have issues getting snow to accumulate. If it's in the low to mid 30s we probably accumulate snow by definition but the snow depth is kept at a minimum

If I'm not badly mistaken, I want to say that he stayed at the Red Roof Inn in Bowling Green, KY.

You are correct. That was so memorable...and silly. I thought about heading some place myself during the day but I wasn't going to stay the night....and I wouldn't have given up where I stayed. That was when I was in Northwest Georgia, and patience would pay off for me.

Yeah I get his thoughts but I sometimes feel like he hates the fact that the public can access weather models

Just gotta hope and pray that most of the snow falls during the evening, night, or morning hours.
200 feet of cloud cover will negate the sun --- usually .... if it's cold enough aloft to snow, this time of year it will still definitely stick even at 2:00 PM if the surface air temp is right and the clouds provide cover

White House and Clarksville looking much better. Time to submit hotel approvals

I only wish this was Thursday or Friday and I'd feel much better. The models have finally trended South enough for a big snow here but man there's still way to much time left for my heart to be broken.

It will stick at 2pm if its heavy enough and if temps are cold enough. 33 or 34 degrees with light or moderate snow probably won't accumulate much in Mid March.

It snowed for hours and hours here in March 2009. Thundersnow like i've never seen before. Unfortunately it was slightly above freezing and the rates weren't quite heavy enough for it to stick much. Also, it occurred during the daytime. Not far away though it did accumulate more because rates were higher. You absolutely have to have heavy snow for it to accumulate much during the daytime in Mid March, especially if temps are marginal.

I've been in Clarksville before. We had a hotel there as it was one of the closest towns to Land Between the Lakes. That place was good but I think my favorite part about that trip was those fried pies in Monteagle.

November 1st 2014 tells all the "too warm of ground" crap to go off itself. Here's proof:

(Interstate with those toasty ground temps)

These warm pine needles didn't mind.

What about these warm roof tops and warm concrete roads in a random neighborhood?

Point made.

I can remember one March (wish off hand I could remember the year) when right north of you at Vogel was crushed with well over a foot - sometime in the mid-'80's, I think, but it can truly happen.

Why would I do that when I can drive 4 hours and be in snow . Plus Shane lives in nC he will screw it up

I'm not sure why you aren't going to see metwannabe. He's good for 6-8 here

I guess people have forgotten how many times it's snowed in march .

Yeah early March especially. Mid March not so much. The only one in Mid or Late March I've experienced was the Blizzard of 93.

I told accu that if I were able that I'd probably target NW NC/NE TN if I were to chase (it just so happens to be that I've been in this area before too lol) but for the Alabama folk it'd probably be easier (and shorter!) to just go straight north.

Might have to head south towards your area or Clarksville if trends keep up

clarksville usually does really good also when we get snow up here. Like I said earlier feel free to pm me if you or anyone else decides to head this way and I'll give you the exit info and anything else your wanting to know about the area. Everything is right off the freeway so it's real easy once you get off the exit.[/QUOTE]
