I take late fall, winter, and early spring off. Outside of that, I try to go 3.1 miles 4-5 days a week.Anyone interested in a kind of virtual running (exercising) group? A way to encourage, challenge each other to keep on track or have little mini-contest, etc. I'm struggling Lol. I've run 7 full marathons but my last was almost 2 years ago in Richmond (3:46 a PR ) but since I've really fallen off. Put on some pounds and struggle to run 4-6 miles now.... I ran with a group but honestly my work hours just don't allow it and so I'm a solo runner now(I'm kind of a solo type personality soooo... ) anyway, just thinking out loud. Maybe a way to get motivated on days you might not feel like it. Any takers? Not sure logistically how to do it but I'm sure someone has some ideas

Getting my lazy butt out of bed and running Lol... just lacking the motivation I guess. I still do but just can't seem to keep that steady schedule like I used too. More than anything I want to get back to marathon form but I've gotten so far from that It's almost like having to start over and knowing where I was and where I'm at now, it's tough. I can run as much as I need each day, it really is just a matter of making myself do it. I don't mind the cold and I certainly don't mind the dark, 90% of my miles over the years have been pre-sunriseI take late fall, winter, and early spring off. I'm of the mindset that you (not you personally) need to decide what you really want to do. For instance, what is the motivation for running (or for anything)? Because you love it or because you believe it's the right thing to do it or because you feel some sort of obligation to it (maybe you used to be a super runner or super in shape or super good at something and you just long for the good old days)? If it's the first or second, then you won't have much of a problem. edit: To add to this - my schedule has always been 4 days a week (5 early on in a hardcore marathon training plan), M, W, Th or Fr and Sat long run. I've probably only ran 4 days a week 3 times in the last 3 months. It's been 2-3 days here and there

Life’s too short , just live it! My brother was a big runner, not marathons, but everyday he ran 3-5 miles and loved it! We have ------ genetics, I remember him having to be on BP medicine at 35 years old, and he was very, very healthy. Got to just deal with what you were dealt. I can say I want to do something day long. The fact that I don't do it tells me objectively, that I really, deep down, value something more. And I think at some point, we need to realize that's ok. I guess my overall point is, if something takes a ton of motivation to do, then it feels like the pressure to do it is misaligned with reason to do it.
For me, I run, not because I like it, but because it's about the only healthy activity I have regular time for. Therefore, it takes a lot of motivation for me to do it. My motivation is that I don't want to be unhealthy and lazy. God has given me the health and ability to do it, and therefore, I will honor that by doing it. Since I have no desire to run marathons, a reasonable distance/time is all I need to commit to. If I miss a day because of weather or some extenuating circumstance, I don't care. There are too many more important things to care about. I just go tomorrow. And during the winter, I just enjoy not running, enjoying the extra time to do something more fun.
Reading this back, I'm sure that this is not going to be a helpful motivator, so I will stop now!
