Interested to see if the activity in north-east Tennessee creates a bow echo for areas that were skipped (Boone, Sparta, Mount Airy).
On a positive note i received about a half an inch of rain (per RadarScope) in the last hour. We needed it

This cluster of storms near the blue ridge escarpment and far western piedmont of NC and GSP in SC is associated with a lee trough in the wake of the Apps, it's somewhat evident on the SPC mesoanalyses.

"Lime Size" definitely caught my attention. How likely would that be around here?
Was expecting it to be sunnier here in Durham. But there is an almost smoke like haze over downtown due to all the pollen.
New Castle, Virginia needs to be motinored for a tornado warning.
@Jimmy Hypocracy Another reason could be that the storms was weaker was becuase the atmosphere didn’t dry enough and you had a deep saturated sounding, which is why you lacked lightning and severe WX

Yep that just moved through where I am...just above the dot of the 'i' in 'Greenville'. Very heavy rain and a lot of wind for about 8 minutes or so. No way to measure the rainfall at work though.
It is hard to believe that your emotions are being dominated by “damn” frustration about there being no dangerous wx vs relief that your family is out of danger. Think about what you’re saying, man. Common sense says your reply to metwannabe doesn’t pass the smell test.
That storm rolled thru and produced heavy rain with lots of thunder. saw no lightning
Driving in some pea size hail in NE kannapolis
Sunshine breaking out after that line passed. Maybe a surprise back end event will occur in the NC foothills.

I’m now near townhouse in kannapolis, looking back at that storm that just hit south of Mooresville ,has a low base with A “scud wedge” below in

It was strange. Certainly looked like the ingredients were there. It seems we were pretty fortunate. Luckily something was missing here bc those same storms are now up around Charlotte and are Severe warned
Picked up steam as it moved east it appears. what was just rain for you was rain+thunder for me and now a severe warning further east

You know you've taken it to another level when you take a few minutes outside to just watch the clouds from a coming strong thunderstorm line and take pictures. Testing...it works with older iPad pictures, as this is an older iPad.

Severe warned storm down in Greenwood SC. Moving NE quick (55mph). 60mph gusts indicated
Easily the heaviest rain of the year on the backside. It’s like someone is dumping water onto my house out of a bucket truck. A few big bolts of lightning and loud thunder as well
Rumbles of thunder from the west. I think we've got a big one coming in

Yep this is why people don’t believe the SPC. Let’s update the map and have an enhanced risk all the way to Boone NC or Asheville NC where the threat shifted east a few hours ago according to the NWS.
It’s ok, you’ll see those garden variety mountain storms while the Piedmont gets screwed this summer
