This girl on Facebook just said a Siberian Husky should be brought inside when it’s cold because they can freeze to death.. ? where does she think we live? Man, the nerve of some people

Never mind the South just isn't the best place to raise a Siberian Husky. They're bred to survive harsh winters outside as low as -30 to -40... in fact, they greatly prefer the cold and the snow. I've seen happy huskies in New Hampshire whenever it's cold and sub-zero... and you'd have a hard time bringing them inside. They're far more comfortable when the weather is sub-freezing outside than room temperature indoor. That's why northern mushers keep their huskies outside in a personal doghouse with hay to keep them warm. I used to think this practice was abusive too... but then I followed a very friendly husker with very happy dogs on Twitter and she explained everything.

It amazes me year after year when it gets cold after a long pattern of above average temps and rain we can't get anything close to frozen... Then temps warm up and it rains right after smh

LONG RANGE: We seeing signals of below average temperatures for the eastern and southern U.S. as we get into February based on pattern recognition and teleconnections. Winter is far from over. Below is the CPC outlook for the period February 1-14.

This is why I can't stay positive when I find stuff like this
ON THIS DATE IN 1940: A total of 9.5? of snow fell at Birmingham, in the midst of the city’s longest cold wave. It is the second largest daily snow total on record, surpassed only by the “Blizzard of 93” when 13 inches fell.

Serious question: other than it looks like a less than torchy pattern, is there anything to really be excited about going forward? I mean, I don’t see any signs of being able to really tap into the arctic in the next 7-10 days and I don’t trust anything beyond that time frame.
No

Yay more rain is coming...

That means its going be dry as a bone . Get ready

The wedge should be eroding any time now and you may even be looking for possible thunder. The Winter weather on radar, virga or not, still looks nice though, haha.

Certainly better warm up when this first band hits. We're at a WB of 31 here right now.

I haven't looked at the data, but I'd assume the erosion will begin and the winds will start coming up from the S/SW and handle that little issue. Our local guys here are saying the precipitation should hold off until tomorrow or something ... but it's mighty dark and low clouds here already... a symptom of the wedge I guess.. but.. still. I would think it was already drizzling outside if I didn't know better.
