This winter has performed about as well as Donald Cerrone did in last night's UFC fight. I guess the Pacific fire hose is Conor McGregor and our winter is Cerrone.

Per the Euro, you may get flakes tomorrow night with the upper low.

That low will not producce snow
The only problem folks need to keep in mind is the obvious that these are modeled temps out 8-12 days (or a movie as @pcbjr called it) and they may not reflect reality. Reality could end up about the same, warmer, or colder. Unfortunately verifications even vs the warmer EPS (vs GEFS) has been coming in pretty significantly warmer on average over the last 30 days per the numbers I've seen and also per my memory of how much warmer it got as the time got closer vs even a good number of EPS runs. The models have been a colossal disaster. So fingers crossed that this won't happen for 1/27-31!

Regardless, folks, the next 5 days will average solidly BN. No worries there. Enjoy these next few days. We deserve them! .

Just not at all ready to pay to watch the sequel ... ;)

Is the middle TN area going to go through the rest of the winter without a single flake of snow? :(
Nope and I’ll put money on that. For one we got a half inch in November that stayed on the ground for a few days actually so technically we already got some snow this season. We Haven’t had snow yet since the calendar flipped to 2020 but I’ve never had a winter that didn’t at least see flurries from the Jan-March time period. I’ve lived here for 14 years now so I’d be shocked if we don’t see a flake the rest of this winter. I’ll even go out on limb and say February will be cooler then most of us are excepting. Nothing scientific about this thinking and more so due to the law of averages. The last 3 February’s have all been well above average making each new February we enter much less likely to be warmer then average also. At some point the law of averages will even us out. I see some people posting about how February’s use to produce acting as if the month won’t once again produce winter and cold for us at some point.

So Jan 27-31 is back in play, but can it PLEASE wait until Feb 2? I'm on vacation the last week of January and if it snows behind my back during that time, it's obvious I'm the reason. :( If we can sneak one in on Jan 24-25, that would be great.

My NWS is still predicting 24 at the lowest next week. I suppose radiational cooling could get you there as the lowest I'm seeing on those models is upper 20s. It'll be interesting to see, if it does get low the airport will be at the lowest.

Boy if that's your arctic snap, it's puny though.

I remember growing up in Greensboro, at least a dozen times growing up where it would snow, melt a little during the day only to get bitterly cold at night and refreeze on the roads. We would run the metal sleds all to hell. Probably my favorite memories as a kid, sledding way past our bedtimes. Our parents burning a barrel at the top of the hill and having drinks. Maybe nostalgia gets in the way of reality, but that doesn’t seem to happen so often anymore.

No snow with crappy low tracks like this.
