Thanks Shawn. Can this precip ever get heavy?
I hope we can squeeze something out of this and not let it be a "total" disaster. I mean anything at this point would be nice. Glad to see over Corey's way, they may be getting a last push so to speak.Shawn said:

Thanks for that information. I was expecting as much. Depressing to say the least, but expected. Oh well, on to the next one I guess dude. Having said that, we are in for quite a warm up. Just hope it doesn't last too long. I hate wasting days like that in the winter, esp. with a system like this one (QPF loaded). What could've been if things were in our favor.Shawn said:

Still getting light snow this hour...precip reblooming over ATL...hoping that trend continues at the shortwave moves into the area *crosses fingers* Still nothing overhead on radar here but its definitely snowing small to sometimes medium flakes.
Yep, I know Feb. is typically our best month climo wise. But, i'm not feeling it this winter. I hope i'm wrong, but I get a feeling it will be like the past few winters we've had recently.Shawn said:

Think that band may be developing. Snowing picking up a little with some returns starting to pop up. Let's see where this goes.

LOL. The funny thing is, the precip looks kinda impressive under my porch lamp at the right angle. But I went outside under the street lamp and can't really even see anything falling. It's barely heavier than a drizzle here. I think I am going to bed. I wanna get up at sunrise to see the ice in daylight at it's full potential. Hopefully this band of snow will grow and intensify, but I am not sure. Something to watch for sure, but I am too sleepy. Goodnight all and best of luck to everyone.

Okay, snow looks a bit heavier now and wind is stronger. I might stay up for another 10 mins. Snow is still light, but more than a drizzle now

Snow flakes getting bigger here. Still extremely small, but it's an improvement. Who knows, maybe Atlanta will get a quick inch. Band Building up towards NW Ga too. Might pass north of ATL. But....maybe another band will form. I don't know. But....I am going to go to bed. Hopefully I will wake up to some flurries at least.

Was awoken to the sound of a howling N wind and ice-coated branches scraping the sides & roof of my home.
Sounds like someone with heavy feet is walking on my roof
The light snow falling outside is a novelty so insignificant that I really don't want it anymore if it meant not losing power or having a huge limb fall on my home.

Well, my yard is still brown from the lack of snow from what I can see. I was hoping my 4 month old could experience his first snow later this morning. Disappointing, but that's life in the South. Congratulations to those on the Atlanta area and elsewhere that received snow. Enjoy it. Like Corey#2, I can hear loud crashes and I know it's trees around my neighborhood. Thankfully, my power is still working.

I will admit I more than busted for my backyard I was not expecting over 2". I also did not think it would snow past 5am and I am currently in a extremely heavy ratio deform band at 7am that has aligned itself along the blue ridge!
You still look good for decent accumulations today. The radar back to the west isn't that bad as long as it doesn't bite the dust.metwannabe said:

My WSW just got refreshed and said 1" of additional? Yet I look outside and the rates are nearly 1" per hour. :huh:
Hrrr keeps me sucked in....if we can ever flip to snow might eek out 1-2
