The thing that's crazy is that apparently, Zelenskyy was viewed as the pro-Russian candidate when he won his election. He got more votes in eastern Ukraine than western Ukraine.
If he makes it out and runs again (he apparently originally wasn't going to), he's going to win in a landslide in the next election though.

I am not sure pro Russian is the right word, Zelensky was born and raised in eastern Ukraine and Russian is his first language, he was already beloved and super popular in eastern Ukraine from his TV career.....his platform was not pro Russian at all, it also was not anti Russian, though it was anti corruption which means anti Russian. I think Putin thought Zelensky would be easier to manipulate as he was not a seasoned politician etc.....so they wanted him to win....they thought they got a Ukrainian Trump but were wrong.

1. Zelensky ran with anti-corruption as a centerpiece. You're saying he's as corrupt as the rest of them. Please provide a credible source to back this up. That 2016 video link is irrelevant because he didn't become the leader until 2018.
2. I'm fully aware that there are neo-Nazis in Ukraine, with the most well known being associated with the Azov militia. They are a problem no doubt and shouldn't be dismissed. But does the Azov militia have direct ties to Zelensky? Zelensky being supportive of neo-Nazis would make no sense based on his being Jewish just using common sense.

I think the Azov militia doesn't like the Ukrainian government, but they are fiercely pro-Ukraine and hate the Russians.
I don't agree with neo-nazi ideology, but I'll note what I noted a while back again in this thread, the pro-Nazi party in Ukraine gets very "few" votes relative to others. Very few.
I did suggest that disbanding the Azov militia could be something to do instead of demilitarizing Ukraine entirely.

There is only one side to pick here and that's the side of the people who are having to watch their country and lives destroyed.......There are women and even children fighting to protect what little they have left. Agree 100% and its easy to capture , get lumped into 1 whole geopolitical discussion. The victims are the innocent civilians as well as unfortunate soldiers taking orders from poloticians for a lost cause.

We had the wonderful experience of staying in Kyiv for 3 months during July 2013. I'm going to occasionally brighten up this thread with some of the pictures that we took.
The people of Ukraine were just fantastic. There was not a moment I felt unwelcomed or insecure. It truly is a wonderful place.

Zelensky has his faults as does Ukraine but he is the reason they have mentally been able to stay in this thing. I get that some people are put off by his request that appear at times to be demands but I would do nothing different. His head is on a platter right now yet I don't see him waiver in the least. Perhaps if he makes it out of this alive he gains some perspective on some things from his past

People do not understand that they cannot expect a man who is already fighting his war to be concerned about whether his requests are going to lead to a war. That is our problem, not his and I would do nothing different. The man isn't a saint but he is putting his neck on the line for Ukraine, which in a world marred by weak leadership, is honorable.
Practically nobody is a saint and that includes all leaders as well as the members here, including myself. Regardless, he is doing his best to be a great leader. I'd want someone like him to be the leader of my country.

Also if Ukraine can succeed, however thats defined and send Puttin back to his corner, he just saved Europe and lesser extent US a lot of problems down the road. We should have got weapons to them months ago. I wouldnt have a problem with all the money congress just voted to send them if I knew Ukraine would get it and put to good use, which Im sure they will. But I know there are 4 [both Repub and Dem] who already are comprimised over there. No doubt theyll launder some of this money if opportunity presents itself imo.
We all hope for a successfull outcome here. I hope the WH, Congress has something to boast about on this matter when all is said an done. We all should be and hopefully are rooting for our leaders right now.This is a very serious situation. As close as weve been to a major wmd event as weve been in decades. Not hyping here, predicting etc. Just know a rat is getting boxed in a corner and my fear is the rat will pull any and everything off before he goes down.

I’ll be completely honest I don’t support Ukraine. But I don’t support Russia neither I’m completely neutral. But I do want the biolabs destroyed before another deadly illness gets out.

Just about every country in the world has biolabs. A lot of biolabs are not used for warfare research. I do not like biolabs but using this as an excuse to attack and kill is beyond pitiful. Russia is making up excuses to attack. Actually attacking a biolab could be a lot more dangerous then leaving it alone.
