I agree. It's also legit that my foot is gonna stink when I step in dog sh** but that's not what we're talking about. You, I, we have no idea who has the best or most weapons. No idea.

My point here is. The reasons countries make advances in certain areas is to gain a ounce of respect. And I believe Russia has done that. Prime example there not going to be a no fly zone because the United States as well as other countries no. Whomever shoots down a Russian jet that’s not Ukrain. There would likely be some form of strike by Russia on other countries. But I believe other countries respect the capabilities of Russia and don’t want to put there citizens lives at risk from some form of Russian attack. Which in my opinion would probably be from missiles.

Which is why we never need to go to war with them in any fashion that involves American lives. We dont fight wars to win anymore. Ive said it multiple times; I fought the majority of my good adult years with nothing to show for it in return. Our country wont even secure our own @#$% border! We have the power to defeat Russia and China in our own country but the people who make the rules are making too much money sleeping in the same bed with them.
You do know I agree right, none of my post like this suggest we go to war with them. I have zero interest in troops on the ground or anything remotely similar to the debacle we just went through in Afghanistan.

Jesse, stay with me now. I agree with that. But my point, which is related to what you originally said, is that you do not know who has the superior weapons, either in function or number. Just because Putin says something doesn't make it so.

And yet we seem powerless against them ?‍♂️
We need them. They are the broker we are currently using to cut a deal with Iran. We are negotiating not only taking Iran off terrorist list, but Russia will build a nuclear plant for energy for 10 Billion for Iran to use for energy. Sure we will be buying a lot of oil from Iran, probably Russia as well down the road again. Winning!

Yep, can’t exactly take Putin’s word, any leader in a country is going to admit there better, and have the best weapons, but the United States likely has far more advanced weapons then many think. I mean shoot that’s where we put a lot of our money into and have for a while, we just don’t say ---- about it. That’s what many don’t realize, I don’t get the fear of Russia because they said they have a better weapon

I'll explain this like my older brother did to me when I watched Wargames as an 8 year old and then freaked out and pestered him with a gazillion questions afterwards...

We got lots of nukes. So does Russia. Doesn't matter which has more. We both have enough to wipe out the other many many times. And more importantly there's not any use worrying about it, because none of us has any control over it whatsoever.

How about a nice game of chess?

"I got a red button to and mine is a lot bigger than yours." I want state who said that to who and when.

Start Arming Tawain now, like nobodies business. One thing we hopefully have learned over the past several weeks. Try being proactive instead of would of,could of, should of...

We’ve already discussed the hypersonic missile issue, weeks ago. Do go back and read. Note, they only surpassed the US in hypersonic missile development because the US chose not to prioritize it.

As for military technology, the US is the class of military technological advancement and many countries, especially China, make a living off trying to knock off US technology. That’s why the US Navy rushed to get the F-35 off the bottom of the South China Sea last month.

From February 25th:

We are developing a multitude of hypersonic missiles and have been, they just weren't a priority because for 20 years we were hopping between opium fields in the Middle East.

Going back over the last few years and looking at the Defense Budget, in 2020, there was $2 billion allocated to developing hypersonic technologies, in 2021, it jumped to $3.2 billion, and in the 2022 budget proposal, $3.8 billion is now being proposed with 70 hypersonic programs drawing funds from this pool.

Russia didn't beat the United States to the punch more so than the U.S. just didn't see a need for it. The U.S. will catch up quickly.

Not sure if this was posted earlier today. If it has been, I apologize:

The other interesting part of this besides the idea that China making a move on Taiwan might be off is if this continues to not go well, China might throw Russia under the bus.

That would be one way for this to end.

Dude, the F117 is like forty years old and Russia still probably doesn’t have something comparable. I highly doubt Russian hypersonic missile tech worries our military.

Edit: For instance, this piece of equipment was shown off well over a decade ago. If they publicly show this tech, what are they developing secretly.

For those who are interested, there is a (very long) series of blog posts highlighting a theoretical WWIII between US/NATO and the USSR that takes place in 1987 (started by the USSR invading West Germany). It is very well written by a very knowledgeable war-gamer. Spoiler alert: limited nuclear strikes (2 by each side) were used in the first 3 weeks of the war.

It is quite a read if you are into military planning and the politics at the height of the Cold War. There are definitely some parallels between what is happening now and what could have happened then.

I also recommend Red Storm Rising (famous book) and Red Army by Ralph Peters (which is lesser known and tells the Soviet side of such an engagement). The Third World War: August 1985 is also good, albeit a bit dry as I recall.

Yep.

The Russian military is currently getting decimated by US surplus missiles developed in the 1980’s by Texas Instruments (yes the calculator brand).

Don’t box in nuclear powers, including those who withhold first strike. Last I checked W88 warheads are hypersonic with decoys and some level of thrust vectoring for 1-12 independent payloads per.

The fear is that as putin continues to get his ass handed to him and his slow forward progression he acts out to show strength. He can barely handle ukranian farmers and their tractors yet he tells the entire world he can put us all "in our place". Nobody is gonna fear his conventional army anymore so he will have to fall back on his WMDs.

There's a lot of chatter on Twitter concerning increased rhetoric in the Kremlin today (we can put the Americans in their place) combined with unusual flights of Russian government planes toward the Urals (one of their supposed nuke bunkers).

It's probably just more saber-rattling and message sending but interesting nonetheless.

I believe this is just an exercise, but they want to send a message with the general public able to see these flights. The only reason I would see them sending folks to bunkers right now is a precautionary measure before using chemical weapons in Ukraine.

The US is by far the most advanced military and weapons technology country on Earth. I've said it once and I'll say it again, the US made a decision a long time ago that we are okay with not having the best education and healthcare, etc.. because we put a LARGE majority of our budget towards the military and homeland security. I don't care what any article says, the US outspends every nation by a country mile in military production and technology. If you don't think we don't have hypersonic weapons and likely the best on this Earth, then you're fooling yourself. There's a reason no country wants to piss us off because they know we would wipe them clear off the map in less than a month if we put the full force of our military and capabilities on them.
