It still "feels" cool outside. If we get any sunshine that wouldn't be good. Plus I want to see if the HRRR trends a bit north with the stronger LLJ like the 4km nam or if the 4km nam trends south toward the HRRR

The weather over the past few days should serve as a stark reminder that Georgia and places to the east aren't immune from the terrible impacts of severe weather/tornadoes. I know that we occasionally feel like that we are less vulnerable than places like Mississippi/Alabama, but that's a very sad line of reasoning to mentally adopt.
Looking like the WAA should really start cranking in the next few hours.

WALB is now reporting that two were in Brooks County, two in Berrien County, and six in Cook County. I think that you would have to go back several decades to find a storm that produced more tornado related deaths in this area.

Probably don't want to see this on the NAM 3KM. Shows highest possible Helicity over northern Bibb county.

Feb 13, 2000 Outbreak in same basic area Killed 18.

The February 13, 2000 outbreak was more towards the Albany area. If you've ever lived in South Georgia, you know that there's basically a demarcation line in terms of climate between the general Valdosta area and the Albany area. Storms routinely weaken in intensity between the two locales and this is highly unprecedented for our area.

This is going to be a long day for sure. Never saw the high severe weather risk coming for anywhere today. Not sure what is going to happen up here as the low looks to pass close or directly over North Georgia. Looks like we will have a small band that will form and cause some problems. The NAM thinks there will be long track tornadoes today as well. Stay safe everyone!

Ye to me looks like there was a much more easterly motion component than is normal for that area. .. And you are corrent the 200 axis was towards Albany
I was born and raised in Valdosta and this all takes me back. So different down there compared to here in Lavonia. Seems we were always getting in the hallway and seeing pine trees uprooted and thrown like pickup stix. It was the norm. Probably why I am so scared of Tornados to this day and have no big trees around my house. Speaking of Albany... They got hit hard a few weeks ago. So scary for all. I hope it doesn't get too bad here but going to lock my chickens up just in case. Everybody on here plz be safe.

Some pics that WALB was showing.. Many 'metal building shreaded. but also saw site built homes with all interior walls down/gone
Lots of SB cape building in the northern half of Al....storms should really start firing there pretty soon

I went to college at the University of Georgia and the climate of NE Georgia is definitely unique (mainly due to the CAD) compared to the rest of the state. I used to tell people up there that severe weather season was always a probability year round in Valdosta! Is it safe to say "Go Cats" to you or did you attend that other school located off of Norman Drive?

LOL! I did go to the other school. My boyfriends were cats though and I worked at the Wooden Nickle. Oh do I miss Camel Riders and Fried Mushrooms. It seems that the weather was worse when I was younger and when I moved to Athens it was just the best place in the world. I will never trade the snow and less tornadoes for rattle snakes and pine trees breaking for anything! Love this part of country! Even though I leave it to all the folks on here about details of weather and learn little by little, I think the CAD is what keeps us from some bad weather but also messes up the snow? I must say, I am a little (cautiously optimistic) pleased at looking at the latest models. NAM, 4KM NAM, HRRR.....There seems to almost be a disconnect with the CAPE and shear combo around here. It looks like NFL, and SGA def have the best parameters for this today. *I am south of macon, btw....I wouldn't let the guard down for sure, but I am starting to see that trend of the models not lining up properly.

For example, here in CAE the cape and shear line up better than they did yesterday, but the PDS signature is not nearly as high. It only takes one tornado...
