Misc Sports Thread

Well. Let's hope Ray Kerr is as good tonight as he was on Thursday. The Braves will have all of their best high leverage bullpen arms at their disposal to relieve Kerr. Should they win tonight, it would flip the series in their favor as the next 2 games are back-to-back night games at Truist with Sale starting and then Mahle starting.

Yep. If Dodgers lose tonight they go down in 4, even if Yamamoto has a great game in game 3. For some reason Dodgers offense fails Yoshi 90% of the time

For a game with not a lot of hits and no extra innings, that was a very long game at 3 hrs, 18 minutes, especially in the era of the pitching clock. There were so many pitching changes and walks to make it long. I’ve always enjoyed long games. For that along other reasons, I love that they don’t have the ghost runner in extra innings of the playoffs.

I don’t hear much about them but our infielders’ defense is awesome.

Edit: Despite excellent pitching performances of Kerr, Suarez, and Fuentes, they get no win or save. Lee got the win despite being in for only 2/3 of an inning and giving up a hit and a walk (although no runs).

Although factual, this x-post is to be fair somewhat deceptive even though LA has by a pretty wide margin the highest total payroll (~$378.3 million):

“The Atlanta Braves have an estimated total payroll of approximately $259.6 million for the 2026 season, ranking 6th in Major League Baseball.”

Depends on track tbh, if it ends up being like some of the recent Euros (edit: add, the Google AI tracks too), it's very, very iffy that we see them go through with things as normal. Maybe it's played on Sunday or moved.

Georgia did win a Matthew affected game 10 years ago, but the last game that was affected by something beyond their control did end up being a loss btw.

Will note that I think the way they've handled things weather wise has changed in recent years...like there was a game I was watching involving Alabama where there probably shouldn't have been a second lightning delay.

I think if it's cancled it will be more for "fan safety" than player concerns IMO. If you have a tropical storm threatening 45-55mph gusts and driving rain, they will postpone or move the game.
