Another fav of mine.... Running out of the Shotgun or Pistol inside the 2 yard line or on 4th n 1-2 yards. I also dont understand why Canales wont run Bryce more. Dave was in SEA for a time with Russel Wilson another "Undersized" QB, Wilson made his cash on scrambling and extending plays but 70% of his success was rolling out of the pocket in some way or another. Maybe I was dumb to assume thats why Dave was the choice to hire bc to me it made sense. When DC was in Tampa with Mayfeild whos also undersized it was different, Baker has proven he can stand in there and play from the pocket, Bryce is only 25% of the problem. IK im worlds worst at making too much of data, but the issue is scheme and fit..... CAR isnt successful bc they run the same 10-15 plays in a cycle and theres ZERO mystery whats coming. On a total of 347 pass attempts Bryce has only been blitzed on 87 of those, bc you simply dont have to make get rid of it quickly, the cheese routes and spread bs and dump offs ect are primarily designed to combat vs the blitz not throw a 2 yarder in the flat vs a full on Nickle or 6 DB set where they just let you catch it and then wrap up. The other issue is ZERO mystery on RPO/PA plays as seen below, On the season 35 RPO opportunities .....2, he has kept and run. Play action however hes only at 67 attempts on 346 opportunities. That simply will not cut it.... theres ZERO threat of him rolling out or threatening with his legs, I mention Russel Wilson earlier bc of the connection to Canales and Body type, Wilson was normally a top 15% in the league for Play action attempts.... why? BC he was a threat to take off so the spy or zone defenders would hold back and not fully get downhill after him leading to more time for routes to develop downfield and lead to scramble plays where guys make plays by wearing the Corner down and finding open space. Obviously this leads to alot of loaded boxes ect for Dowdle and Hubbard. IDK i just think people are trying to Squeeze Bryce into a mold hes simply not, Bryce is the mold that you build a top 5 DEF/SP Teams/ O-line .... Dominate the trenches and play situational football. The model is simple.... Run the ball-Control clock-Play D/Field position-Limit turnovers. Do this and 80% of games will be within 7 points by the end thats a statistical fact for teams over the last 8yrs that have a 65% or greater time of possession advantage and with 1 or fewer turnovers, the game was within or lost by 7 or less in 73% of those games with under 3 min to play, which is where Young excels with the intangibles as hes shown time and time again with his ability to lead GW drives. Ok sorry Rant over lmao :p
