Presidential Election 2024

I think you have this a little mixed up. I think what you mean to say is that from your perspective, it's about what the media claims his statements to be and about what the media says that he has done and what the media says he's going to do.

And how I know this is because yall's posting history is a parade of anti-Trump, anti-Right talking points, spun up by the Trump-hating media which are outright lies or which only tell half of the story. Most of it isn't based in anything even close to resembling reality.

No its stuff Trump says out loud....the stuff you ignore.

I'm not. I'm sitting this one out.

Harris *deserves* to lose IMO (and I do hate her). Honest to goodness, her Neoliberal supporters & the Never Trumpers annoy the ---- out of me and I would love to see them meltdown. That said, I also hate Trump for reasons that have been discussed by others ad-nauseam. Casting a vote for either in my mind would be an endorsement of them personally and their policies, which I can't do in good conscience.

That said, the way I see it, Trump is a known quantity after living through his first term, I live in Texas which was never a swing state and I make a comfortable enough income that I'll be fine wherever the chips fall.

I voted for Bernie in the 2016/2020 primaries and Biden in the 2020 general.

This is what I'm struggling with I mean don't get me wrong I hope Harris loses too she has run a terrible campaign but I feel still very much like this is her race to lose. Women are outraged about abortion and don't care about anything else and if the Trump voters don't turn out in epic numbers yeah he's screwed imo

We need whoever is best for the country. We the USA are alot different than most countries in how they run their government. It is what it is.

I'm also thinking strategically about 2028 too with my decision.

Trump will not only term-limited (plus he'll be too old), but also, Democrats will have the opportunity for an open primary, whereas Kamala's incumbency may ensure she's in office through 2032 (which is a *LONG* time).

I don't agree with RFK Jr. on everything, but that was part of what went into his calculus with backing Trump, much to the chagrin of establishment Dems.

And the single issue abortion voters really befuddle me.

Now don't get me wrong. I am pro-choice and I hate that Roe v. Wade was oveturned.

Thar said, even if Kamala wins:

1. Dems had 50 years to codify Abortion at the federal level and didn't.

2. There's a possibility that she'll still have a Republican-majority Senate to work with or even a Republican-majority Congress altogether (similar to Bill Clinton in the 90s). So nothing to protect abortion rights will get passed under her administration any way.

3. The Supreme Court which overturned Roe v. Wade in the first place isn't going anywhere for at least for the next decade and Kamala can't do anything to change that.

4. Abortions are still legal, to some extent or another, in the vast majority of states.

But beyond all of those point, IMHO, it really shows a selfish and/or privileged mindset when you're willing to re-elect an administration that could potentially lead us into WWIII, has been responsible for numerous policy blunder that produced a decades high rate of inflation and has refused to do anything meaningful to fix our border crisis over a single issue they realistically won't (or can't) fix to your satisfaction.

If you wanted Bernie, I think Kamala won’t get you there, but she will be close. If I was a Bernie supporter, I’d vote for her.

Even if that were true on its face (I tend not to believe so for a number of good reasons), I have several deeply personal reasons in addition to those that are policy-related to not vote for Kamala.

But that's just me.

But that's just me.

Is it because she is completely insignificant as a human being, a useless prop representing the cabal that actually runs the country, never won a primary, or that she slept her way into positions of power?

Those things are cherries on top for sure, lol...

But honestly, not even those things are a dealbreaker for me and I'd be willing to overlook them if Kamala had a more principled stance on the issues I prioritize and her defenders (I won't even call them supporters, because it's really just an anti-Trump vote for them) weren't so obnoxious the past 8+ years...

Yeah I know several Harris supporters who are so disappointed with her policies(again it's more because she's not Trump)

If Trump would just be more Presidential this wouldn't even be close. That's what is driving me crazy about this but no his closing statements is all about revenge or what not

His tariff policy is a joke. You want out of control inflation and an economic downturn look no further than this. The man does not know how tariffs even work or if he does. He’s lying about how they will affect every day people.

Yeah it's almost like people forgot that he crashed the economy last time, And who knows why Biden kept some of the tariffs on China.

Trump has only himself to blame if he loses in my opinion.

I tend to agree, although I do think he will win in the end.

For one, I still believe his support is being understated in the polls (as it was in 2016 + 2020), even despite him being virtually tied with Harris on paper right now.

Second, the early voting numbers look favorable for him between the big drop off in Democratic votes from 2020 (suggesting many people are sitting at home) and the surge in GOP early votes.

Like I get it we know you were shot and impeached and all this but if you wanna win the election you have to convince people to vote for you and I know a couple people not even voting because everyone has been so negative like come on
You are right, Trump should win in a landslide if he didn’t say stupid things. But he doesn’t know how to control himself.

I will eat my pants and delete my account if Trump wins. Kamala is likely to take GA, NC, MI and WI. 90% she wins. 10% it’s a blowout win with unexpected wins in states we are not discussing. I will be having a bojangles watch party with celebrations invited to a select few on here bare with me.
