Site News Pop up ads

So these popups are Googles new inline ads you will see them more and more. I'm trying to figure out how to go back to banners but until then this is what we have. We are in trouble with Google for turning the ads off

If it’s any consolation to what ever you were testing… I have yet to see a pop up ad since you apparently did something .. I’ll be on the lookout though @SD

I'll bring up the donation drive idea again. I don't have the upgraded server cost yet but we are likely to end up around $1500 per year in expense. If we were to reach that number through donations we could turn ads off, upgrade the server, potentially have live threads again, and we won't have to go to 3rd party image hosting

I know you will. We are working to get rid of them but the struggle....it's real
Ok gotcha !

I use Adblock Plus and uBlock Origin in fire fox. I see no adds pop up or otherwise. Been using the 2 firefox extension for free for years. Even tells you how many adds each block. Never watch ads on Youtube Videos or websites. Both are easy to turn off in those rare occasion where a website detects ad blocker and just as easy to turn back on when I am done.

The pop ups are kind of annoying but it's only a serious problem for me if one sneaks through that is malware laden. That hasn't happened yet, I'm just stating something that would be a problem for me.

(I do have software that fights malware but I don't have software that blocks ads)

Not complaining… but when I opened SouthernWx on iPhone through Safari got this one:

I had a little "trust" in Google considering they penalize websites that have pop-up ads in the search engine rankings. Seems to be especially on mobile, they have become just as invasive versus what they say they stand for.

They barely make any money anyways, we'll look into options on a replacement.
